Portugal Telecom will offer, on its television platform, the Champions League final on the Sport TV channel and eight football Eurocup games on the RTP 4K channel through the Hispasat 30W-5 satellite.
Hispasat and the television platform of Portugal Telecom Meo have reached an agreement to transmit, in 4K format, the final of the Champions League on the Sport TV channel, as well as the eight most important games of the 2016 Soccer Eurocup on the RTP 4K channel. Thanks to this collaboration with Hispasat, the customers of Meo's satellite channels can enjoy the most notable football moments of the year in the highest image quality and in the most advanced technology.
The first match that will be broadcast in this ultra high definition technology (UHD) will be Real Madrid-Atlético de Madrid, which will play the European Champions League final in Milan on May 28, and can be seen on the Sport TV channel. They will also be broadcast in UHD, on the RTP 4K channel, the most significant matches of the 2016 Euro of this summer, corresponding to the inauguration between France and Hungary, the quarterfinals, the semifinals and the final, which will be held on July 10 in Paris. All meetings will be offered on the Portuguese Platform Meo through the Hispasat 30W-5 satellite.
In addition, the agreement between both companies, which aims to boost the dissemination of content in UHD, includes the broadcast, in the offer of services of the Portuguese platform, of the Hispasat 4K television channel, which the Spanish satellite operator dedicates, exclusively, exclusively, to content in this format.
Ultra high definition television multiplies by four the number of pixels of a high definition screen. In this way, the resolution is four times higher than the high conventional definition and provides an image sharpness, a gradation of the colors and a definition of the textures that provide the user with a very high perception of quality and a more immersive experience.
