TVE begins the construction of its new studios 6 and 7 in Prado del Rey

The project, for which the first stone has just been laid, is made up of two concrete prisms that will house the studios that will occupy 5,472 square meters.

This Thursday, July 14, the president of RTVE, José Antonio Sánchez, laid the first stone of the new Prado del Rey program production studios 6 and 7. The works will last two years and the new buildings will have a constructed area of ​​7,000 square meters.

At the event, José Antonio Sánchez pointed out that the new studios “complement and improve RTVE's production capacity significantly, both from an operational and technological point of view.” “This project will allow RTVE to integrate production operations in the same center, Prado del Rey, thus favoring the possibility of producing synergies between the different programs,” he stressed.

Once the construction of studios 6 and 7 is completed, and studios 1, 2 and 3 have been rehabilitated, along with studio 5, the Corporation will have a total of six production studios, “all of them with modern equipment and state-of-the-art auxiliary facilities,” said Sánchez.

"We are giving way to a new stage after the difficulties experienced in recent years as a result of the appearance of asbestos in several of our studios. A new stage that gives us the opportunity to restructure our corporate headquarters, proceeding to reorganize the studios and all our corporate buildings, approaching a more sustainable and operational model, in line with the new times," he concluded.

For his part, David Valcarce, TVE's Media Director, has pointed out that concentrating the majority of Madrid's program production in Prado del Rey will allow for boosting internal production and more efficient use of resources.

The new studies

The new buildings will occupy 5,472 square meters, with a constructed area of ​​7,044 square meters. The project is made up of two concrete prisms that will house the studios, as well as a service building between them that will complement the almost triangular-shaped enclosure. Study 6 will have similar characteristics to the current study 5 and study 7 will be larger, as explained by the director of Real Estate Infrastructure, Services and Operations of RTVE, Pedro Recas, at the event.

The construction of the two new studios was approved by the RTVE Board of Directors on May 26, along with the demolition of studios 10 and 11, affected by asbestos and closed since 2011.
