Hispasat extends its distribution services thanks to an agreement with the Telepuerto de Media Broadcast Satellite
Half Broadcast Satellite (MB SAT) reinforces its current offer of content distribution services on the basis of a new high -performance platform and competitive infrastructure of the Spanish operator.
Within the framework of IBC 2016, Hispasat He has made public an agreement with the German telecommunications service provider half Broadcast Satellite (MB Sat) in order to provide television distribution services in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East (EMEA). Thanks to this agreement, both companies expand their powerful commercial offer, aimed at achieving maximum flexibility for television chains that want to bring their signal to these regions quickly and easily.
In this way, MB SAT adds to telepuertos that already offer the solution of HISPASAT shared digital platforms from the orbital position of 30º West and reinforces its activities in the business market on the basis of a new DVB-S2 platform and the competitive infrastructure of the Spanish operator. The heart of the platform is located on the Telepuerto de Media Broadcast Satellite in Usingen (Germany), one of the safest in the world thanks to its high security measures and reliability standards.
The Spanish satellite operator thus offers a great opportunity for all audiovisual content producers who intend to distribute their signals, either directly to the user (DTH) or indirectly, transporting their signal to cable or terrestrial diffusion headers, allowing not only to optimize the transmission in terms of power, but also in terms of bandwidth consumption. Hispasat shared digital platforms facilitate the transmission of individual audiovisual channels within digital multiplex, sharing the carrier with other televisions. In this way, their clients can take advantage of the entire power of the transponders of their satellites even if they do not occupy them completely.
In the words of Christian Fleischhauer, Executive Director of Media Broadcast Satellite, "with this video of highly competitive video and data distribution, our clients can supply content within Hispasat's coverage in EMEA with excellent conditions and a high level of benefits."
Ignacio Sanchis, business director of Hispasat, also showed his satisfaction with this agreement with half Broadcast Satellite "which allows us to continue expanding our offer in EMEA from our orbital position of 30º West and facilitate television operators solutions that adapt to each situation and every moment."
With this additional orbital position, Media Broadcast Satellite complements its business distribution business with a new independent high performance platform. One more step to guarantee its customers a large neutral satellite services portfolio. Combining DVB-S2 or IP platforms and encryption and retransmission technology, half Broadcast Satellite is capable of providing custom distribution solutions.
According to Telespazio
Hispasat has also signed a contract with the Italian satellite service operator Telespazio For the distribution of audiovisual content through Hispasat 30W-5 to more than six hundred cinema rooms throughout Italy.
This several-year agreement will allow distributing content in the KU band through the Hispasat 30W-5 satellite and Telespazio Fucino Telepuerto, near Rome.
This agreement is particularly relevant to Hispasat for two reasons. First, it reinforces its position in the area of audiovisual content distribution to cinemas. In addition to a first initiative in Spain in 2013, there have been other similar ones, such as the agreement reached in Mexico for the distribution of films and live events, or the agreement signed with the Real Theater in Madrid for the live broadcast of the theater operas in cultural centers and other institutions. Secondly, it constitutes another achievement in the strategy of expansion of services in Europe that the operator has been developing in recent years.
Until now, the distribution of films to cinemas was mainly made through DCP files (Digital Cinema Package) using hard drives. This implies the creation of hundreds of copies of the original, which are then packaged and sent to the different film rooms in which they will be screened. Theaters download the content of the hard drive on the projector server and then return the album to the distributor to be used again. All this implies complicated logistics that is not free of risks and delays.
Thanks to agreements such as the signed between Hispasat and Telespazio, this whole process can be replaced by a single simultaneous transmission of the film through satellite to all film rooms. This process reduces the amount of materials practically to zero, eliminating physical devices and drastically reduces logistics and films distribution time to movie theaters, as well as increased delivery safety.
