Filming of 'Sara's Notebook', directed by Norberto López-Amado, ends

Producida por Telecinco Cinema, Ikiru Films y El Cuaderno de Sara AIE, con la colaboración de Mediaset España y la participación de Movistar+, la película se ha rodado en diferentes localizaciones de la República de Uganda y Tenerife.

Belén Rueda, Marian Álvarez y Manolo Cardona encabezan el reparto protagonista de El cuaderno de Sara, película dirigida por Norberto López-Amado (La decisión de Julia, Nos miran) con guion de Jorge Guerricaechevarría (El Niño, Celda 211), cuya fase de rodaje ha finalizado tras ocho semanas de trabajo en diferentes localizaciones de la República de Uganda y de la isla de Tenerife.

Producida por Telecinco Cinema, Ikiru Films y El Cuaderno de Sara AIE, con la colaboración de Mediaset España y la participación de Movistar+, el filme, que inició su rodaje el pasado 14 de enero, cuenta también en su reparto principal con el debutante Iván Mendes, seleccionado tras un elaborado proceso de casting a cargo de Eva Leira y Yolanda Serrano (El Niño, Ocho apellidos vascos) entre miles de participantes, y Nick Devlin (The Canal), así como con la colaboración especial de Marta Belaustegui (El principio de Arquímedes) y Enrico Lo Verso (Hannibal). La película se estrenará de la mano de Buena Vista International, la distribuidora cinematográfica de The Walt Disney Company.

El director, Norberto López-Amado, resalta que “el hecho de rodar en orden cronológico hizo que viviéramos la película no sólo como ficción sino como algo real que nos ha cambiado la forma de mirar el mundo. La emoción y la aventura se mezclan a partes iguales. Acompañar a Laura en busca de Sara ha sido un viaje de entendimiento y superación que estoy deseando compartir con todos los espectadores”.

The producers, Javier Ugarte and Edmon Roch, highlight the commitment of filming in the Republic of Uganda, after the intense localization work carried out over the last two years in other territories such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Guinea, Rwanda and Tanzania. In the words of Edmon Roch, of Ikiru Films, “filming in the heart of Africa has been one of the most fascinating challenges of our professional life, every day has been an adventure full of discoveries and challenges.” Javier Ugarte confirms that “only with a top-level team has it been possible to carry out this journey, which has given us an extraordinary truth and richness that all viewers will be able to enjoy through the screen.”

For his part, Ghislain Barrois, CEO of Telecinco Cinema, recognizes that “Sara's Notebook is a project initiated and developed from the Telecinco Cinema factory and shares its DNA with some of our most ambitious and brave films, such as Now o Impossible. All of them have in common very determined female protagonists, stories anchored in reality and an important political and social background.”

Disappeared in the middle of the jungle

The film shows Laura's experiences in the search for her sister Sara, who disappeared in the middle of the Congo jungle. Neither the NGO she works for nor the embassy have any news of her whereabouts until a photo of Sara appears in a mining town in eastern Congo. Laura decides to travel to Kampala to begin a dangerous journey to the heart of Africa, a territory dominated by warlords. An adventure that will take her to the dirtiest, most violent and hidden backroom of Western powers.
