Synology launches its new ultra-fast all-flash NAS Flashstation FS2017
Powered by Intel, capable of managing over 90,000 IOPS in 4K random writing, the FS2017 is perfect for big data analytics, video post-production.indeo, virtualization and work with any database-demanding application that requires working with high IOPS and low latency at the same time.
Thinking about work environments with intensive I/O applications, such as post-production and 4K workflows, Synology just launched its new ultra-fast all-flash NAS FlashStation FS2017.
This high-performance, scalable NAS is capable of handling over 90,000 IOPS in 4K random writing, making it perfect for big data analytics, video post-production, virtualization, and any database-demanding application that requires high IOPS and low latency at the same time.
FS2017 incorporates a processor Intel 8-core Xeon D along with 16 GB DDR4 ECC RDIMM expandable up to 128 GB. This state-of-the-art hardware ensures high performance even when multitasking and hosting multiple virtual machines. Its four Gigabit ports allow easy connection and disconnection to existing RJ45 networks, ensuring continuous uptime. For applications requiring higher bandwidth, dual 10GBASE-T ports with the additional 10GbE/25GbE/40GbE NIC option can maximize performance and meet data-intensive usage requirements.
Workload distribution
Vic Hsu, CEO of Synology, comments that "a common challenge for RAID in SSDs is how to prevent multiple drives from failing at the same time. The RAID F1 function is specifically designed to address this problem. By incorporating a specially designed algorithm to distribute the workload between different drives, RAID F1 improves the resilience of the storage system to ensure data security."
FS2017 runs on DSM, Synology's NAS operating system, and includes the Snapshot Replication application that creates 65,000 backups on external servers, as well as an inclusive virtualization solution compatible with VMware, Citrix, Hyper-V and OpenStack.
