'Acacias 38' recovers its emblematic street
Boomerang TV restarts filming on the rebuilt Acacias Street after the fire that destroyed the previous set on March 11.
Acacias 38 has resumed filming on the most popular afternoon street on La 1, reconstructed on the new sets of the series. After the fire on March 11, the team has worked tirelessly on the transfer and reconstruction of the sets in Leganés, as well as on readjusting the recording plans. On April 3, filming resumed inside the houses while they continued, at the same time, rebuilding the main street.
TVE's Director of Film and Fiction, Fernando López-Puig, has highlighted "the ability of the production company, Boomerang TV, to rebuild this set in record time" and has advanced that "the plots and spirit of the series will remain the same." “The reconstruction has even served to make some improvements,” he noted.
"What we see here is a miracle," added Josep Cister, executive director of Boomerang TV Ficción, in reference to the restoration, which has been possible thanks to the efforts of TVE and the production company, "who have fought side by side to put this street up in two months, half the time invested in building it the previous time. It has been a very difficult challenge."
For Luis Santamaría, executive producer of the series, "the fire was a blow, but we made a virtue of necessity and we have improved the street in the technical aspect. In addition, this break has helped us to advance and create plots that we had in the bedroom for the future. The move has turned out well and now there are quite powerful chapters, with new characters and conflicts."
On the occasion of the inauguration of the new set, the technical team of the series produced by RTVE and Boomerang TV will have a small participation in a scene, winking at the reconstruction of the sets.
The reconstruction of Acacias Street
In just two months, the most emblematic set in fiction has been reproduced, taking care of all the details to maintain its original appearance. In the 1,150 m2 nave, there are some of the most representative sets of the series: portal 38 on Acacias Street, the La Deliciosa chocolate shop, the tailor shop, the church and the kiosk.
For its construction and setting, 2,150 m2 of wall panels, 200 m2 of tiles, 40 doors, 34 windows and 33 balconies were necessary. 1,100 kilos of paint, 220 m2 of fabrics and 120 m2 of glass have been used for the doors, balconies and windows. They have also used 19 streetlights and 20 fictitious trees.
The spaces that recreate the attic and the houses of the Álvarez-Hermoso, the Palacios, the Hidalgo, the Valverde, de la Serna and the Mauro pension, are located on an adjacent set of 800 and 600 m2. These interiors, in which they have been filming for a month and a half, were moved and restored in a record time of two weeks.
In the two years that it has been on the air with more than 500 episodes, 'Acacias 38' has managed to seduce a loyal audience. In April it attracted an average of 1,235,000 viewers, 10.5%, very similar records to those of March, when it achieved its historical monthly record: 1,270,000 and 10.7%.
The most watched episode of the month of April was broadcast on the 21st, with 1,364,000 followers, the second episode with the most followers since its premiere. It also achieved its historical record in viewers recently: on March 22, with 1,399,000 and 11.7%
Fiction also has great international success. In Italy it has become a phenomenon under the name One Life, consolidating itself as a reference product of the Canale 5 network. The series remains the leader in its broadcast slot and continues to lead day after day with almost 3 million viewers. For this reason, its sixth season has already been confirmed, totaling 396 episodes. Currently, it can also be seen in Puerto Rico and the Middle East.
