The international animation laboratory Bridging The Gap announces the selection of its third edition
Eleven animation projects will participate in the third edition of the professional laboratory, which will take place in Tenerife between July 16 and 22. Five feature film projects and six series from Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, the Philippines and Peru in the selection.
The third international animation laboratory Bridging the Gap – Animation Lab (BTG), which will take place between July 16 and 22 in Tenerife (Spain), announces the projects that will participate in its third edition.
Organized within the framework of the ACERCA Development Training Program in the cultural sector of Spanish Cooperation and with the collaboration of the International and Ibero-American Foundation of Administration and Public Policies; thanks to the main sponsorship of the Cabildo de Tenerife through Turismo de Tenerife and INtech Tenerife (Tenerife Science and Technology Park) and the collaboration of TLP Tenerife; Bridging the Gap aims to strengthen and promote animation projects from all over the world at an international level and facilitate the creation of international collaborations and networks.
The eleven projects were chosen from a total of 105 applicants from America (74%), Asia (7%), Europe (14%) and Africa (5%) with projects that, for the most part, will be carried out with mixed techniques. The presence of 2D projects and, to a lesser extent, CGI and stop motion also stands out. Talents from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Egypt, Spain, Ethiopia, United States, Philippines, France, Greece, Guatemala, India, Kenya, Macedonia, Mexico, Nicaragua, Niger, Panama, Peru, United Kingdom, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela were presented.
During the seven days of the laboratory, those selected will receive various training activities and individual advice from international experts to strengthen their projects. The list of confirmed experts for this new edition includes Belli Ramírez (Mr. Cohl), Charlotte De La Gournerie (Sun Creature Studio), Eleanor Coleman (Indie Sales), Enrique Vázquez (Átomo Network), Eric Goossens (Walking the Dog), Guadalupe Arensburg (Movistar+ España), Guillermo García Carsí (Creator of “Pocoyo”), Hernán La Greca (Cartoon Network Latin America), Manuel Cristóbal (Dragoia Media), Nicolás Schmerkin (Autour de Minuit), Niko (Founder and director Nikotxán), Paco Rodríguez (Media Training and Consulting), Shamik Majumdar (The Walt Disney Company), and Yago Fandiño (RTVE).
Since its first edition in 2015, Bridging the Gap has strengthened and promoted thirty feature film and animated series projects from around the world at an international level. Among the projects that have participated in previous editions, the Peruvian feature film “Nuna, the agony of Wamani” by Jimy Carhuas and production by Origami Estudio (BTG 2015) stands out, among others, a film that was recently presented at the Marché du Film de Cannes as part of the Annecy Goes to Cannes program; and the Ecuadorian series “Chakay, el maestro deboth mundos” by Daniel Jacome and produced by Alicia Studio (BTG 2016), which received the main recognition in its category in the Animation! section. of the Latin American market Ventana Sur.
