VSN will present its advanced PAM and its new web video editor at IBC

VSN's new advanced Production Asset Management (PAM) software, integrated into VSNExplorer, delivers greater project visibility while modernizing and streamlining media companies' workflow and material management.

At IBC 2017, in Amsterdam, VSN will present at IBC 2017 its new advanced PAM software as well as WEDIT, its recently developed web video editor. Jordi Capdevila Espitia, Marketing Director of VSN, assures that "as has been seen in the latest projects that we have won and launched in Russia and Canada, VSN's commitment to offering the global Media and Entertainment industry a large portfolio of innovative customer-focused solutions remains strong and is being well received by the main players in the industry."

Production Asset Management (PAM)

VSN's new advanced Production Asset Management (PAM) software delivers greater project visibility while modernizing and streamlining media companies' workflow and material management. Integrated into VSNExplorer, VSN's flagship platform for media and business process management, this latest version of VSNExplorer PAM software offers production teams continuous control of ongoing projects from a single screen, thus allowing production departments to become more efficient and collaborative with each other.

This intuitive and easy-to-use tool offers a wide range of possibilities specially designed with the current time constraints of production teams in mind. For this reason, the new advanced version of the software includes the possibility of searching for metadata and assets through a hierarchical tree view; personalized, at-a-glance management of all tasks, regardless of whether they are completed or still in progress; user permissions management for more effective visibility, control and collaboration; creation of assets from the interface itself, including new ones of the VSNExplorer Wedit type; downloading EDL files to complete video editing on third-party non-linear editing (NLE) systems; and monitoring assets across multiple media stores, regardless of location.

Developed 100% in HTML5, this advanced PAM system interrelates not only with the internal VSN modules, but also with external NLEs, social networks, archiving services, programming partners, quality check systems and much more.

VSN WEDIT

The new WEDIT was launched last April at the NAB 2017 show. It is a 100% web-based and highly functional video editing tool, integrated within the VSNExplorer media and business process management platform. Developed in HTML5, this easy and fast tool allows editors and journalists to edit videos and make them ready for broadcast from a single interface and without the need to switch between systems.

Thanks to its implementation within the VSNExplorer interface and its integration with a complete MAM system, Wedit users can work with footage and video clips that are located in deep, near-line or even online storage. In fact, Wedit can also be defined as a “cloud content editor”, since it allows users to access and edit files located in the cloud: a feature that enhances collaborative work between video editors and departments of a media company.

When it comes to its editing functionalities, Wedit users can quickly edit sequences by cut; generate cut lists; perform mark-in and mark-out of segments with frame precision; associate metadata with cuts; edit quickly from the interface's own timeline; and consolidate and publish sequences. In addition, users can export a project to an EDL file at any time to complete editing in a third-party NLE system if necessary, such as Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro or Avid Media Composer.

Business Intelligence

The enhanced VSNExplorer BI software is capable of transforming media and metadata into powerful business intelligence information. This VSNExplorer module, a specific BI tool for broadcast environments, can extract information about assets, content quality, traffic, transcoding and many other parameters directly from VSN's own systems or even from other third-party tools, to later present the data that has been selected in simple graphs and reports that help analyze the performance of a business.

VSNExplorer BI can generate reports based on the status of workflows, users' pending tasks or based on any other criteria that has been previously defined and customized based on the metadata of the MAM system, thus eliminating the need to create reports manually or rely on other third-party solutions to do so. Users thus have access to analytical documents and reports automatically generated by default, as well as another series of personalized information panels that combine different information and layouts (bar, pie, column, graph, enumeration, speedometer...).

Thus, VSNExplorer BI allows you to control and analyze the data of any broadcast company and even segment the information by department, including various filters to select based on different circumstances. Thanks to these reports, an administrator can rely on them to make business decisions and monitor their performance from a single dashboard of information and analytics. In short, this is a powerful analysis and decision-making tool that helps companies detect inefficiencies and bottlenecks, solve problems and make business decisions that increase company income and allow for more efficient use of corporate resources.

Other solutions

VSN's team of professionals will bring to IBC 2017 the latest software developments that have been included in its portfolio of solutions for broadcast and media management.

Entre los productos que serán mostrados destaca especialmente la integración de los sistemas Inception de Ross Video y VSNExplorer. Este sistema para producción de noticias ha sido recientemente mejorado e incluye entre sus últimas funcionalidades algunas como la nueva gestión que realiza VSNExplorer MAM de los clips de media, así como el ya mencionado editor web de vídeo, Wedit. La combinación de estos productos permite así a los periodistas acabar sus piezas de vídeo y noticias directamente en un único sistema e interfaz, mejorando así su rapidez y efectividad en la creación de noticias y su envío a emisión o publicación en redes sociales.

Asimismo, la solución VSNQC para el control de la calidad de los contenidos también será presentada en la feria, junto con otras nuevas funcionalidades incluidas en el software VSNExplorer como la mejorada gestión de metadatos y keyframes o su avanzada integración con las tecnologías de tesauro online y Linked Data. Por último, la última versión del sistema VSNCrea TV para tráfico y programación también incluye interesantes características que esperan captar gran atención este año en IBC y que permiten, por ejemplo, gestionar los gráficos sobreimpresionados.

Sus funcionalidades mejoradas de catalogación y organización de la media, tales como el speech-to-text, la autocatalogación o los últimos avances en keyframes, permiten a los usuarios gestionar su contenido de manera mucho más flexible y eficiente, mejorando así su productividad y la colaboración entre profesionales.
