The agreement to distribute Olympic Channel content extends until 2024, which coincides with the rights contract that Discovery Communications maintains with the IOC for the broadcast of the Olympic Games in European territory.

Since the beginning of this month of August, the International Olympic Committee's channel, Olympic Channel, is distributed through Eurosport and Eurosport Player.

“This long-term partnership with the Olympic Channel raises the bar in terms of delivering the best Olympic stories to more audiences in the most accessible way,” said Jean-Briac Perrette, President and CEO of Discovery Networks International about Eurosport's relationship with the channel launched by the IOC after the Rio de Janeiro Games and which has now begun its rollout thanks to local agreements that allow more personalized experiences to be brought to Olympic fans around the world.

"For Eurosport, the Olympic Games are always much more than two weeks of sport. Establishing a long-term partnership with the Olympic Channel to produce, distribute and show the best Olympic content will significantly strengthen our ongoing programming that will keep the Olympic flame burning all year round," he added.

For his part, Mark Parkman, CEO of Olympic Channel, was delighted to "partner with Eurosport to bring the public closer to the Olympic Movement through a more personalized experience through the Olympic Channel. As we approach our first anniversary, this new partnership is an important step to continue growing and expanding the platform around the world with localized versions that allow fans to discover, participate and share the power of sport and the excitement of the Olympic Games."

The agreement extends until 2024, which coincides with the rights contract that Discovery Communications maintains with the IOC for the broadcast of the Olympic Games in European territory.
