The new Eurosport network will connect twenty centers in Europe and Asia through a professional VPN, increasing its speed from 2 to 10 Mbps in the VPN and from 4 to 20 Mbps in Internet access.

Interoute, the company that owns and operates the largest next-generation network in Europe, has announced that the sports network Eurosport has contracted its services to improve its VPN network, doubling the capacity and expanding its reach to connect 20 centers of the chain in different locations. Interoute, which already provided broadcasting services to Eurosport, is expanding its contract with the sports network with data transport services, which increasingly require more bandwidth due to the growing use of multimedia in business applications. The new network will be sized to accommodate the needs of the sports network in the future.

Upon ending the contract with its previous supplier, Eurosport decided to reorganize its branch network and connect twelve large cities in Germany, Spain, Poland, England, Switzerland and Sweden through MPLS. Eurosport's headquarters in Paris and some less sensitive locations in Asia and Europe such as Tokyo, Dubai, Lisbon, Oslo, Copenhagen and Helsinki with IPsec VPN depend on the public network managed by the sports channel.

“We wanted to challenge our previous provider to improve network performance and reduce our costs,” says Pascal Delorme, Director of Systems and Networks at Eurosport. "We have chosen Interoute as the sole operator of our entire private and public network and have increased our VPN sites from 12 to 20. With MPLS and Internet links fully managed by Interoute at primary sites and with IPsec VPN services at secondary sites where we continue to have local management of Internet access, allowing us to integrate new sites at a lower cost."

“We have chosen Interoute for the quality of its technical solution, both in terms of architecture and services offered,” comments Nicolas Perrault, Network and Security Engineer at Eurosport. "We have multiplied our speed figures, which have gone from 2 to 10 Mbps in the VPN and from 4 to 20 Mbps in Internet access. In Scandinavia, Interoute has offered us MPLS solutions for a lower price than an IPsec VPN service, so we can provide better quality of service to our agents. One of the limitations of our business is the geographical location of Internet access. At this point, Interoute has been the only operator to offer us local backup in each country and in most of our perimeter,” he added.

Interoute is committed to providing a high quality service and even assumes possible sanctions, if a possible interruption of the service results in loss of income to the client.
