Sony addresses the advantages of live IP production at BIT Experience
Sony shares with BIT Experience attendees in a workshop how producing live under an IP environment is now a reality, even in 4K with broadcast quality, thus taking advantage of standard computer technologies.
This Wednesday, BIT Experience 2017 has scheduled a workshop (17 hours) in which Sony will exchange impressions with professionals about the possibilities that live production is opening up under an IP environment.
David Anaya, who on behalf of Sony will coordinate this workshop, highlights that IP Live allows you to take advantage of the investment and technical advantages of standard computer technologies to enjoy audiovisual content with broadcast quality.
Sony's proposal supports synchronization signals, HD and 4K audio and video with broadcast quality as well as data control throughout the IP network. Additionally, it is designed to integrate seamlessly with current SDI infrastructures.
Coinciding with IBC, Sony showed its first compatible products, which are part of the complete IP Live production system and will be available from April 2018. These products are compatible with SMPTE ST 2110 while Sony is working closely with the AMWA on compatibility with the NMOS IS-04 device detection and registration API, as well as the NMOS-IS-05 connection management API.
In its workshop at BIT Experience Sony will demonstrate how IP Live provides more efficient use of resources and faster turnaround times between productions in addition to being able to have remote production over a limited bandwidth connection.
Lastly, it should be noted that some broadcasters and service companies are already working on an IP environment for live broadcasts with Sony technology. For example, NEP Australia has equipped its new IP-based remote production facilities with Sony HDC-4300, XVS-6000 and
Japan's Shizuoka Broadcasting System (Shizuoka Hoso) is working with Sony to deliver the country's first studio subsystem employing an IP-based production workflow following Sony's IP Live production system. In China, ShanDongTV has decided to work with Sony to achieve 4K/IP remote production (REMI) with the live SR workflow for HDR. Major products include HDC4300, XVS6000, PWS4500, HDRC4000, BVM-X300, NXL series converter as well as Sony's IP Live System Manager (LSM).
BIT Experience está organizado por IFEMA y Comunicare Digital, con Panorama Audiovisual como main media partner, y el patrocinio de Aicox, Etiqmedia, Harmonic, SES y Sony (diamante); Akamai, Aspera, Cellnex, Hispasat, Intinor, Riedel, Rohde&Schwarz y TMediaT (oro); Axión, Ebantic, Tedial, VHD y VSN (plata).
