Atresmedia launches its new Atrescine channel for all of America
The new signal is presented to the Hispanic public in HD with an extensive catalog resulting from an agreement with Video Mercury Films.
Atresmedia Internacional launches Atrescine, a new HD channel dedicated to Spanish cinema and aimed at the Hispanic market. With this launch, the group's offering of international signals grows, which already include Antena 3, Atreseries and ¡Hola! TV, and the main exhibition window of the Spanish seventh art opens on the American continent.
In just four years, Atresmedia Internacional has almost quadrupled the number of subscribed households – all its channels already reach more than 51 million worldwide – and it has become the European operator with the most channels outside its borders.
The presentation of Atrescine took place at NATPE (Miami), one of the most important audiovisual events on the international calendar, where the content of the new channel was highlighted, which will have the best catalog of Spanish cinema of all time and all genres (more than 3,000 titles) thanks to a agreement with Video Mercury Films, the world's largest distributor of Spanish cinema and owner of more than 70% of the cinema produced in Spain since its inception.
For Javier Nuche, general director of Atresmedia Diversificación, the launch of Atrescine “is the result of our strategy of betting on a portfolio of complementary channels, with unique and original content that consolidates us as one of the main programmers in Latin America and the US Hispanic market.”
Atresmedia Internacional's commitment will surprise the audience with films that are already part of the history of celluloid: from cinematographic gems from the 1950s to the highest-grossing Spanish titles. Along these lines, the president of Vídeo Mercury Films, Enrique Cerezo, assures that with Atrescine "we satisfy an important demand for consuming quality Spanish cinema; especially on the American continent." Regarding the alliance with Atresmedia, Cerezo highlights that it is "a strategic agreement that combines the quality of our productions with Atresmedia Internacional's knowledge of a highly competitive market, in which it has operated successfully for more than 20 years."
The new channel will also be able to have its own titles from Atresmedia Cine, which closed 2017 as a leading film producer by exceeding 30 million euros with nine feature films and 31.8% of the Spanish cinema box office.
