The composer, pianist, arranger and producer Jesús Glück created countless tunes and soundtracks for film and television.

The composer Jesús Glück (Valencia, 1941- Madrid, 2018) died today, Wednesday, January 24, in Madrid at the age of 76. Linked to the SGAE since 1963 and a member of its Board of Directors since 2012, Glück was also an academic at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

Glück had a solid and complete musical training. At the age of 15 he concluded his career at the Conservatory of Music of Valencia, where he studied music theory, piano, composition, orchestration, harmony, counterpoint, aesthetics and history of music, chamber music and orchestral conducting, obtaining the highest grade in all courses. At the age of 17 he obtained a doctorate in piano virtuosity at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid and, shortly after, he furthered his studies in Germany.

The Professional careerThe Valencian musician began as a pianist, with a wide participation in television programs, national and international festivals, soundtracks... where he participated together with creators such as Henry Mancini or Paul Mouriart. He achieved success as a film composer and his soundtracks for films such as Tangier (2004), Blood and Sand (1989), Subject passed (1987), Round it off (1986), Continuous session (1984), The Crack 2 (1983), Starting over (1981), The crack (1981), Alone in the Dawn (1978) or The darling (1975).

As a musical director, composer or arranger, he participated in programs such as Young People, Stories From The Other Side, Telecoupon, Deal Done, Super Nanny, Furor, Uncle Willy or Popstars. In addition, he worked as a conductor for television and made recordings for the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, the Russian Army Choirs, the Viña del Mar Festival, the OTI Festival and the Benidorm Festival.

As a creator, arranger or producer of songs, he collaborated on the hits of Raphael, Isabel Pantoja, Emilio Aragón, Alfredo Kraus, Rocío Jurado, Lola Flores, Manolo Escobar, Cantores de Híspalis, Luis Miguel, Marisol, Concha Velasco, Paloma San Basilio and Rosa León.

Among the numerous awards received by Jesús Glück are 'Best New Musician of Spanish Cinema', first prize for 'Benidorm Festival Composition', two first prizes at the 'OTI Festival', the 'ACE New York' as best arranger, the 'Valladolid Film Festival Critics' Award' and the 'Talent Award' from the Television Academy.
