Willy Rubio

Willy Rubio (Santa Fe, Argentina, 1940) has died at 84 years of age. Professional with a long career at TVE, in 2007 he received the Talent Award of the Television Academy in recognition of his excellent work behind the cameras.

Worked on benchmark programs such as One, two, three, Open Studio, Pencil and Paper, Long live the show, Very Direct o Furor. In 2006 he was the production director of the documentary series Spain, between heaven and earth, one of his last works.

The Television Academy has joined in the pain and sadness over the loss of a great professional who was very loved and recognized among his colleagues.

In his early years, Rubio dedicated himself almost completely to the world of music with performances as a pianist, director, working on recordings, galas and tours with artists of the stature of Alberto Cortez, Raphael or Waldo de Ríos, among others.

Between 1971 and 1973 he worked as co-writer, actor, coordinator of Afternoon for everyone, New Year's Eve and as a collaborator in One, two, three y Open studio. He was an actor and coordinator of the program Don Juan; deputy director, co-writer and ballet coordinator end of year; creates, directs and produces the musical group Set 96 for the program Very direct and co-writer and actor of bomber, between 1974 and 1977.

From 1978 until 1982 he worked as an actor in Toby, Spotlight (where he also served as screenwriter, director and producer), in The Locomotive (where he was also musical director) and as deputy director and co-writer of pencil and paper. He was deputy director and co-writer of special end-of-year programs for TVE and space. Superstar: executive producer of the DGT series That's how it was, that's how he tells it; collaborator of Channel 10 and deputy director of Hello'88 (ETB) between 1983 and 1987.

He worked as deputy director of Live the show and executive producer of Crazy there (ETB) between 1988 and 1992. He served as deputy director of Such is life (RTVA), actor in several episodes of Pharmacy on call (Antenna 3); deputy director of Sundays by Norma (Antenna 3); series producer III Route of discovery and of the II, III and IV Iberian Sailing Tour; executive producer of the series Excited (ETB); design, coordination and launch of Channel 7 and program director Sing, sing (RTVV).

Producer of several documentaries for Tabacalera Española about the Fortuna Sailboat's Round the World Tour and World Motorcycle Championships. From 1997 to 2006 he was a producer of various TV spots; director of RTV Marbella; deputy director of programs Furor (Antenna 3), Such is life (RTVE) and Done deal (Antenna 3); producer of Osborne Nautical Week and deputy director of Audacity (RTVE), in addition to other productions. In 2006 he became the production director of the documentary series Spain, between heaven and earth.
