Last Friday after the inauguration of Gamelab Esports, an event organized by Gamelab with the aim of better understanding this phenomenon in Spain, the first Spanish Association of Esports Clubs (ACE). A group that was created to ensure sustainable growth of the sector in Spain, from responsibility, dialogue and decision-making, to define the needs and trends of eSports.

During the event, which was well attended by the public, the promoters of ACE announced the way in which the group will change the relationship between clubs, professional leagues, publishers and institutions. This will be possible thanks to the work that will be carried out between the clubs and by sharing the points of greatest interest to help everyone ensure that growth is healthy and leading.

Its representatives have also spoken of the strong transformation that the clubs have experienced going from being amateur to companies that generate employment, manage talent and have become the main content creators, which places them as the main actor in this industry today.

A presentation that has created great expectations and has added to the success of Gamelab Esports. An event created by Gamelab with the aim of making known what eSports are and thus being able to compete for the leading positions in this great industry worldwide. In the words of Gonzo Suárez "eSports is a market to be conquered, whoever conquers this market will be the one who knows Esports, since these are not just a sporting spectacle, they are much more."

Unstoppable growth of eSports

At this point no one has doubts that eSports are the future and that is The growth of this sector is unstoppable. Video game competitions have become authentic spectacles followed by nearly 400 million viewers around the world, where expert casters transmit the emotion and nerves experienced in each match. With this growth in viewers, which represents 20% compared to 2016, it is not surprising that the sector had a turnover of 700 million dollars last year according to analysts, and that it is forecast to reach 1.5 billion dollars in 2020 through its different sources of income.

ACE, in addition to being the first Spanish association of eSports clubs, It already has 13 of the 16 most important clubs on the electronic sports scene, which gives it greater power when working to maintain the quality standards that the industry needs and ensuring its continuity within the state legal framework. The clubs that are already part are Artic Gaming, Asus Rog Army, Amonkeyz, Giants Gamig, G2 eSports, KPI Gaming, Mad Lions EC, Movistar Riders, Penguins, Team Heretics, Team Queso and X6tence.

For José R. Díaz, president of ACE (owner of Giants Gaming), the union of all the teams will allow us to promote the proper and necessary identity of eSports as a sector independent of any other discipline, among other things because "unity is strength and what we try to do at ACE is to unify and create a single voice that represents us in any debate forum to interact with administrations and any agent in the sector." For his part, vice president Fernando Piquer (Movistar Riders) added that this “is a natural way to resolve several roles that we had on the table, such as being coordinated and having a way of working together that serves as a reference for those entrepreneurs who want to enter the industry.”

In addition, the event was attended by representatives of all the clubs and the rest of the members of the Association's Board of Directors, such as Victor Casanovas (KIYF eSports Club), Virginia Calvo (Giants Gaming), Marco Mourao, (Penguins) and Xavier SanCliment, (Asus Rog Army), to support the birth of this association that promises to be a benchmark, which received a warm welcome at its presentation due to the novelty that this implies for electronic sports, not only our country, since it is the first association only of clubs at the European level.
