BetaMedia uses AJA FS-HDR converters in its new IP-based 4K HDR mobile unit

The Italian audiovisual services company combines incoming and outgoing signals for 4K / UltraHD HDR, HD HDR and HD SDR broadcasts in its new IP mobile unit using 24 AJA FS-HDR frame converters and synchronizers.

The Italian producer BetaMedia, which offers audiovisual services to clients such as Endemol, Infront and OBS, among many others, producing content such as Big Brother Italy, Master Chef, the Alpine Skiing World Cup, the Olympic Games or the Italian Serie A League, has just premiered in collaboration with DBW a Fully IP-based 4K HDR mobile unit.

The unit External 14 is based on an infrastructure FlexIP escalable capable of working with up to 36 4K cameras Sony y 12 servers EVS XT4K producing both HD and 4K UltraHD with high dynamic range (HDR), using S-Log3/2SI/2160p50. The technology SAM/Grass Valleand is used for video and IP switching, while audio is responsible for Stage Tec y Clear-Com of intercommunication.

To combine incoming and outgoing signals for 4K/UltraHD HDR, HD HDR and HD SDR broadcasts, BetaMedia has recently installed a total of 24 converters AJA FS-HDR for real-time HDR and WCG conversion.

Rosario Messina, CTO at BetaMedia, assures that “FS-HDR is extremely versatile and it can serve most of the signal functions we need, so it was a natural fit for the Esterna.”

“If I receive a signal that is not yet formatted for use in the pipeline, I can run it through FS-HDR in real time and the problem is solved,” he concludes.
