Atresmedia obtains a net profit of 69.3 million in the first half
The net income of the audiovisual business amounts to 513.8 million euros: 443.4 million from television advertising; 21.5 million for digital advertising; 31.7 million for content production and distribution; and 17.2 million for other income.
Atresmedia In the first half of the year, it obtained an Ebitda of 101.3 million euros and its net profit reached 69.3 million euros. In an advertising market that remains in line (+0.5%) with the same period in 2017, according to external estimates, the company has managed to maintain net income to reach 550.6 million euros.
Likewise, Atresmedia has carried out effective cost control management and as a consequence operating expenses grew by only 0.5% (discounting the acquisition of the digital advertising marketer SmartClip).
For its part, the net income of the audiovisual business stands at 513.8 million euros and is broken down as follows:
• 443.4 million obtained from television advertising. With this data, Atresmedia Televisión's share of the market stands at 41.6%.
• 21.5 million from digital advertising (+244% in a market that is growing +13%), compared to 6.3 million in the same period of 2017. This increase is linked to the acquisition in July 2017 of Smartclip, one of the most important marketers in the digital advertising market and whose contribution to the Group amounts to 13.7 million euros.
• Income from content production and distribution reaches 31.7 million. These income include, among others, the national and international sale of series, the distribution of content on payment platforms in European and American markets, as well as the Company's film activity.
• 17.2 million euros come from other income that mainly includes events, licenses, telesales and editorial rights.
The Ebitda of the group's audiovisual business stands at 92.2 million euros, with a Margin on Net Income of 17.9%.
Hearings
Within the audiovisual business, the set of Atresmedia TV channels has achieved an audience share of 26.7% in the period, being the audience leader in prime time in commercial target, the most demanded by advertisers, with 29.9%. By channels, Antena 3 obtained an audience in the first half of 2018 of 12.3%, an audience that rose to 13.7 in prime time in the commercial target with an audience of 13.9%, only 0.2 points below its main competitor, despite the broadcast of the Soccer World Cup.
LaSexta, with an average audience of 6.9%, increases +0.5 points compared to the same semester of 2017 and remains above its main competitor once again. In the commercial target in the prime time slot it reaches 7.9%. The set of complementary channels of Atresmedia TV (Neox, Nova, Mega and Atreseries) adds, for its part, an audience share of 7.5% in the accumulated as of June 2018, a figure that grows to 9% in commercial target.
Digital environment
In the digital environment, Atresmedia reached a monthly average of 27.1 million unique browsers as of June 30, 2018, with a growth of 18.2% compared to the monthly average as of June 2017. According to data from ComScore, Atresmedia has reached 19.3 million unique users, has positioned itself in the ranking of the 10 most visited sites in Spain and has consolidated its leadership in the audiovisual sector with its highest historical difference compared to Mediaset: 8.8 million more users.
As of June 2018, Atresplayer has more than 2.9 million users, according to ComsCore, and remains the leading online video platform. The quality short video platform Flooxer registers half a million unique users.
Cinema and radio
Atresmedia Cine has released six feature films during the first half of the year: Thi Mai, heading to Vietnam, The tribe, Without detours, Immersion, The laws of thermodynamics y The world is yours, achieving 32% of the Spanish cinema box office in this period.
Within the radio business line, Atresmedia's three radio offerings reach a combined audience of close to 4 million listeners, according to the latest General Media Study. By stations, Onda Cero obtains an average of 2 million and remains the third channel in the ranking of general stations. In the field of themes, Europa FM registers 1.7 million listeners and Melodía FM reaches 249,000 listeners.
The net income of the division reaches 42.2 million euros, in line with those obtained in the same period of 2017. The gross operating result of the radio business in the accumulated period as of June 2018 is 9.1 million euros, which represents a margin on Net income of 21.5%.
