Octopus version 8.1 will increase efficiency in newsrooms

New features in Octopus 8.1 include improved task assignment and grouping, advanced clip and script management, and improved social media integration.

In the prelude to IBC 2018, Octopus has launched the version 8.1 of its platform for news production on television. This release includes improvements for new customers, and offers a free upgrade for existing customers with an active standard or premium support contract.

Among the new possibilities of Octopus 8.1 These include improved task assignment and grouping, advanced clip and script management, rules-based social media content archiving, and quick story editing, as well as quick clip insertion/replacement directly into the script.

Main menu items can now be custom color-coded and allows for repeatable calendar assignments to journalists. Additionally, an app allows you to record audio clips to be easily included in a story.

Social media integration, already a standout feature of Octopus, has been enhanced with the ability to handle Facebook comments. Posting text and videos can now also be posted directly from Octopus to Twitter.
