Deluxe Entertainment Services Group has acquired the visual effects company Atomic Fiction, which has studios in Montreal and San Francisco. Founded in 2010, Atomic Fiction has built a reputation for efficiently creating high-quality special effects by empowering top creative talent with innovative technology and a craftsmanship approach.

Some of the studio's notable projects have been collaborations with director Robert Zemeckis, including The Walk, Allied, Flight, and the next Welcome to Marwen. The studio has also worked on Star Trek Beyond para Paramount Pictures, Deadpool para 20th Century Fox, Ghost in the Shell para Dreamworks, Stranger Things 2 y Cosmos: A Space-Time Odyssey, along with episodes of game of thrones de HBO, Boardwalk Empire and the upcoming third season of strange things from Netflix. Additionally, the company contributed to the Oscar-winning effects for Blade Runner 2049.

The union of Atomic Fiction and Method expands the capabilities and talent of both studios, allowing the combined entity to take on the largest FX sequences and even full-fledged features. Atomic Fiction's Montreal headquarters will become a flagship Method studio as part of a broader global strategy that also includes a substantial expansion of Method's visual effects capacity and capabilities in Pune, India, which is already underway.

Atomic Fiction co-founder Ryan Tudhope will continue to lead the Montreal team creatively with new executive creative director, Method Studios. Atomic Fiction co-founder Kevin Baillie will take on the new role of creative director and senior visual effects supervisor at Method Studios, and will remain based in San Francisco. Both will depend on Ulbrich. All of Atomic's approximately 300 full-time employees and freelancers are expected to join Method Studios when the transaction closes.
