The Government allocates 76 million euros to the development of the Spainsat satellites
The purpose of the Hisdesat Strategic Services project is to put two communications satellites into orbit.
The Council of Ministers of Friday, November 30, has authorized the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism to grant a loan of 76 million euros to the entity Hisdesat Strategic Services for the Spainsat NG government communications satellite development project, which will mean a total investment of 750 million euros until 2023. The authorized amount represents the first annuity corresponding to the financing of this project.
This project aims to develop and launch of two communications satellites into orbit to replace the current Spainsat and XTAR-EUR satellites, and a new Control Center to carry out its operation.
The capabilities offered by both will allow us to respond to the communications needs of the Armed Forces in their national deployments or international missions, such as in communications of the State Security Forces and Corps and other civil organizations of the Administration.
Spain's commitment to the development of its own satellite communications system has allowed our country to be at the technological forefront among our allies and to develop a competitive and sustainable industrial fabric capable of responding to the advances and challenges of technology in this field.
Hisdesat Servicios Estratégicos was founded in 2001 as an operator of government satellite services to operate primarily in the areas of defense, security, intelligence and foreign affairs. Since 2005 we have provided secure satellite communications services to government organizations in different countries and are currently developing new constellations of Earth observation satellites and maritime traffic information satellite (AIS).
