Qvest Media has been commissioned by the Austrian public broadcaster ORF to equip the five studio automation systems in its new production center in Vienna.

Qvest Media will handle all tasks related to the planning, delivery and integration of new hardware and software components for the implementation of the automation of these studies in ORF. In addition to the technical integration into the studio's existing infrastructure and the connection with the Redsys editing system that ORF uses from APA-IT, will pay special attention to ensuring the intuitive operability of the automation processes involved and their use in future editorial workflows.

To safeguard this fundamental point, the Qvest Media subsidiary, HMS Media Solutions, is adapting its stand-alone, neutral HMS DiSA Brick controller to fit ORF's needs and integrating it as a technology layer between the editing system and automation systems. Vizrt (Mosart and Opus).

As a result, editors can focus entirely on creating pieces and planning releases in the editing system. In the background, Brick Controller will help ORF staff ensure that each story within the broadcast process is implemented correctly from a technical perspective without editors having to have any detailed specialist knowledge.

Thomas ThalThomas Thal, Director of Key Account Management at Qvest Media, highlights that in terms of the innovative Brick Controller concept, the ORF project demonstrates how important software development experience is in the integration of modern systems. “Through the acquisition of software developer HMS, we create a solid foundation on which we will be able to build customized, future-proof and neutral solutions for our customers.”

Once the new controls are in place, Qvest Media will also be responsible for training ORF staff and continuously monitoring and updating the systems.
