Riedel's new 1024 node redefines intercom connectivity with a higher port density and native IP compatibility.

Riedel in NAB 2019

Now ten years ago, Riedel Communications He launched in NAB What would become one of his flagships: MediorNet. This proposal was born as the first medium network and signal transport platform distributed and based on IT technologies.

By radically changing the way in which broadcasting moves their signals, Mediornet introduced a new technology for data transmission. Today there are more than 5,000 frames installed worldwide.

Now, a decade later Riedel takes a giant step with the Artist 1024 launch, an inctercom matrix with which it intends to redefine the connectivity of communications with a Greater port density and Native IP compatibility.

In what could be easily described as “the next piece of the puzzle”, this communications node will provide the advanced characteristics and abilities that customers have requested.

Fulfilling the norma SMPTE 2110-30/31 (AES67), Artist-1024 is the next evolutionary step in the continuous development of the artist intercommunication ecosystem.

Riedel Artist 1024 The artist-1024 node has 1024 ports without locking in just 2 Ru, which significantly reduces rack space requirements. This latest incorporation into the artist ecosystem introduces a series of technical innovations focused on Universal interface cards (IIC) Definable by software. This completely new type of interface card combines network connection, mixture and management, and can be configured to act as an AES67 or Madi subscriber card, or as a fiber/routing/processor card. Changing the type of connectivity is as easy as reconfiguring IIC with a simple click on the director's configuration software.

The plot provides ten positions for the IIC, two of which are reserved exclusively for the route and network connection of the UICs. The remaining eight bays can be equipped with IIC from various configurations to provide connectivity to subscribers. The mixer integrated in each subscriber can be climbed from 8 to 128 ports per card and can access the 1,024 ports of the artist trunk network. In addition, there are four expansion slots available for several GPIO or synchronization applications.

Artist-1024 also introduces a new flexible and easy -to -use licensing system, with licenses at Framce level instead of connectivity type licenses. Each node begins with a license of Virtual Artist Matrix (VAM), which includes a defined number of ports (16 to 1,024) that can be distributed freely through the node subscription cards. In addition to these licenses blocked by nodes, there are also flexible licenses that allow a rapid reconfiguration of the system simply by moving capabilities between nodes.

Riedel's new artist node has been designed with redundancy in its nucleus. By supporting multiple redundancy schemes, including N+1, NIC and SMPTE 2022-7, you can provide a degree of robustness and unprecedented reliability. All control logic and data links within the structure are redundant, and additional safety is provided by two shared loading sources and a fan module with redundant fan units. The sum of these measures is equivalent to the most complete communications security network available in the market.

Thomas Riedel, CEO of Riedel, stressed that “the compatibility of the systems and the sustainability of customer investments are of the utmost importance for us. The Artist-1024 node will adapt to new customers who seek to have a complete and prepared system for the future, as well as those customers who have supported us for years and who are now prepared to take the step to IP infrastructure”.

First projects

Finally review that Artist 1024 is born with some projects underway such as the installation that the Canadian public broadcast CBC / Radio-Canada eIt is carrying out in its new production center in Montreal. On this occasion, Cha bet on an intercom system based completely on IP with Riedel technology. François Legrand, Senior director, Core Systems Engineering, has accompanied Thomas Riedel in the official launch of the new solution of the German company.
