Fujifilm's Premista series of telephoto lenses offer all the benefits of a large format sensor (with an image size of 43.2 – 46.3 mm -diagonal-).

Fujinon Premista 80-250mm

Fujifilm will present at IBC 2019 the telephoto lens with zoom Fujinon Premista 80-250mm T2.9-3.5 (Premista 80-250mm) with a focal length of 80-250mm, the second lens model in the Premista cine series. The Premista 80-250mm can be combined with the standard zoom lens Fujinon Premista 28-100mm T2.9 already launched to form a kit that covers the most used focal lengths of 28-250mm.

In recent years, filmmakers have increasingly begun to work with film cameras equipped with a large format sensor for film and commercial production and want to achieve a natural bokeh effect with shallow depth of field and wide dynamic range. Although there are premium lenses compatible with the large format sensor on the market, there has been a demand for zoom lenses that cover a wide range of focal lengths offering versatility with the highest optical quality.

In response to these demands, Fujifilm developed the Premista 28-100mm lens in August 2019 by combining our world-class optical and mechanical designs with the latest manufacturing technologies.

The Premista 80-250mm lens is a telephoto zoom lens that covers a focal length of 80-250mm. Thanks to the adoption of a large diameter aspherical lens and a new focus/zoom system, Premista achieves stunning optical quality from the center to the corners, allowing the cinematographer to capture the feel and texture of the subjects. The lens design contributes to a wide dynamic range by suppressing unwanted flare and ghosting thanks to Fujifilm's original optical calculation software.

Combining the Premista 80-250mm and Premista 28-100mm lenses, the most commonly used focal lengths between 28mm and 250mm are covered, accommodating a variety of scene changes. They share the diameter, allowing users to use the same accessories and maintain focus. This eliminates the need to readjust accessory positions when switching between these lenses, simplifying operations in top-of-the-line video productions.

The mechanical design built with Fujifilm's simulation technology, developed over many years, is combined with production technology that can assemble processed parts on the order of microns with high precision, to produce a compact and lightweight body with advanced robustness, which withstands harsh shooting conditions in professional video production.

Fujifilm has developed the Premista series as a continuation of the current line of HK/ZK/XK/MK cine lenses to meet the diverse needs of the film and spot production industry. The new Premista 80-250mm will begin to be marketed in December of this year.
