Lawo reinforces its position as a provider of production and IP infrastructure products and services at IBC
Lawo's latest solutions include control and monitoring systems, digital audio mixing consoles, routers, video processing tools, as well as solutions for IP-based A/V infrastructure and routing systems.
Andreas Hilmer, marketing director of Theirs, presented today at IBC the new features that the German company is launching this year. IBC 2019. Hilmer highlighted that "if just a year ago we were talking about 4K HDR, ST 2110, WAN (ST2022-7 Class C), with IP everywhere... today it is a reality that goes further with surprising solutions."
The IBC Lawo premiere new version Xtra Fader his mc²96 console Grand Production Console, which provides a greater number of faders in the Central Control Section. Thus, we find 16 instead of 8 faders in the Sweet Spot (a design option that can also be adapted to existing consoles) that provide direct access to double the number of channels in the ideal listening position.
Sound engineers enjoy greater freedom for a more convenient and flexible workflow when adjusting their audio production settings. The Xtra Fader version of the mc²96 console is dedicated to demanding studio and mobile unit applications with the need for a maximum number of faders in a small space. The Xtra Fader mc²96 version allows a 112-fader rack to be applied that fits in a width of only 2,350 millimeters (92.52 inches) for installation in standard-size OB vans (crossover trucks).
Lawo's flagship audio console has been specifically designed to provide optimal performance in video production environments through Native support for all IP standards relevant: SMPTE 2110, AES67, Ravenna and Dante. The Lawo mc²96 console, available in frame sizes with 24 to 200 faders (and additional faders from the mc²96 Featuring the same legendary quality faders known from Lawo's mc²90 series for extremely smooth and precise fades, the 21.5″ Full HD touch screens as well as color TFT channel strips and touch-sensitive color encoder encoders provide a quick overview and easy operation for the user.
AES67 Stream Monitor
Broadcasters that use the standard AES67 AoIP studios and production facilities finally have an easy way to stay informed about the status of their program streams: Lawo AES67 Stream Monitor, a new product from software for Windows PC which premieres at this IBC 2019.
AES67 Stream Monitor displays detailed information for up to 16 user-definable audio streams, each of which can contain several audio channels. The main screen presents audio levels and alarm indications at a glance for all monitored flows; Selecting an individual flow screen allows users to perform a “deep dive” to discover detailed flow information.
Features include ability to add AES67 sequences on demand using the PC sound card; monitoring two Ethernet NICs simultaneously for true compatibility with ST2022-7; a stream quality monitor that tracks jitter, lost packets, and data errors; and LUFS measurement with detailed tracking of loudness units over time; alarms for silence detection, lower or higher level alerts, with user-definable thresholds, among others.
V__matrix
Also new in this IBC is the new suite V__matrix 1.10 with SD/HD/3G/UHD up/down/cross and HDR/SDR color space conversion, further expanding the capabilities of Lawo's software-defined IP multiviewer, processing and routing platform.
Version 1.10 adds new features to the V__matrix applications vm_dmv and vm_udx. Furthermore, Lawo launches its new V__matrix Silent Frame, Designed for noise-sensitive locations such as control rooms or audio booths.
Lawo's V__matrix 1.10 software suite includes several improvements and new features for all V__matrix applications.
The vm_dmv application, Lawo's infinitely expandable UHD/HDR IP multi-display, is now complemented with support for ST2022-7 stream redundancy.
The conversion between SD, HD and 3G formats uses one path, while conversion to/from 4K uses four paths. Each path provides video frame synchronization and audio sample rate conversion, as well as audio delay functionality. Each route also has full audio keying/unkeying capabilities with audio gain and shuffle. Broadcast quality RGB and YUV color correction is provided for each processing path.
Designed primarily with IP networking in mind, vm_udx natively supports both ST2022-6 and ST2110-20 IP video, as well as ST2110-30/AES67 and RAVENNA IP audio streams. Conversion between IP video and IP audio standards is also possible, for example, ST2022 to ST2110. To ensure high availability, the ST2022-7 system natively supports seamless protection switching (SPS).
With available io_bnc backplanes, vm_udx allows legacy connection to SD-, HD- and 4K-SDI. Both single-link 12G-SDI and quad-link (2SI) are supported, as well as conversion capability between single-link and quad-link.
With the +4UDX licensing option four additional independent paths can be added, bringing the total amount of Up/Down/Cross processing per C100 to eight.
The V__matrix 1.10 update will be available in October and is free for all Lawo Care4 SLA customers.
While the V__matrix C100 core processing unit was designed for data center and equipment room environments, there are applications where some cores can be installed. processing in noise-sensitive locations, such as control rooms or audio booths. The new V__matrix Silent Frame is aimed at these types of applications.
With two slots for the C100's standard cores and accompanying backplates, the Silent Frame is so quiet it might even impress a sound engineer. The unit's large slow-spinning fans are temperature controlled and provide the same front-to-back cooling airflow as standard V__matrix frames, but quiet.
Since the V__matrix Silent Frame houses the same C100 compute blades as all other V__matrix frames, it has immediate access to any of the V__matrix applications already available, including vm_streaming, vm_dmv and vm_udx.
Power Core MAX
On the other hand, the Power Core MAX, and AES67 mixing motor supporting up to four Lawo mixing surfaces independent.
In addition to offering users a wide variety of processing, routing and I/O functions, Power Core has 96 DSP channels and the ability to handle hundreds of analog, digital and AES67 audio signals.
Customers can choose from a number of license packages tailored to a variety of operational needs and pricing. The new MAX package allows the connection of up to four independent Ruby mixing surfaces to a single Power Core motor.
Supports up to 96 fader channels distributed across up to four physical consoles Ruby or VisTool virtual mixers and has a 1920x1920 internal routing matrix, 80 user-definable adder buses and 96 DSP channels (compression, limiting...) and 128 double-redundant MADI channels and 128 AES67 / RAVENNA channels, standard.
Finally, it should be noted that Lawo has presented the SIC Portugal engineering team with its project of the year award thanks to the extensive deployment of Lawo technology in its new IP facilities near Lisbon.
