He 3D Wire Market, reference of the animation, video games and new media, is presented with an “avant-garde and international” character, as stated by its director José Luís Farias.
What will be its 11th edition will be held on October 3 to 6 in Segovia and more than 1,000 professionals from the sector will participate in presentations, screenings, round tables and talks. “Since we created this project, it has been growing little by little and we believe that it has now reached an interesting maturity, and therefore also a new era, where we want to experiment and include other cultural manifestations such as comics and board games,” adds Farias.
One of the highlights of 2019 will be the 13 companies that will take part in the “recruitment"Inaugural. Multiple meetings where the main objective will be the search for new talent by the companies. A list of international studios that have worked on large film and television productions such as The Impossible or Game of Thrones, along with others that have made some of the most important titles of current animation in our country such as Planet 51 o Mortadelo and Filemón.
The program also has confirmed presences, such as Tumblehead Animation. A Danish studio that since its creation has received numerous awards; Its founders Peter Smith, Mette Tange and Magnus Møller, present thanks to the support of the Danish Embassy in Spain, will talk about the limits of 3D animation, as well as some of their latest projects: Tales from the Multiverse y Rob 'n' Ron.
Another confirmed one is the New York study Exit 73, which will expose #BLUD. Chris Burns (founder and director of the studio) and Cody Greenhalge (video game programmer) will delve into the conversion of their animation project into a video game, a field of debate that proposes multiple exits for the same idea. The aforementioned work was created as a series, but after a while it was proposed to convert it into a video game; After achieving this step, its new perspective has generated great expectation and reviews in prestigious specialized media.
Along with these names will be Able & Baker y Blow. Both studios have participated in the Netflix animated series: Love, Death + Robots. Nominated for two Emmy Awards, the animated production for adults combines science fiction, fantasy, horror and comedy. Its creator is Oscar-nominated director Tim Miller (Deadpool) and among its producers we find the also nominated for the aforementioned awards: David Fincher (Seven, Fight Club, The Social Network).
The 2019 edition of 3D Wire will have a program that covers all sectors and processes of animation. Among the latest confirmed proposals, the focus on script and art direction stands out, with two presentations called: Script for dummies, the 10 things you should know to set up a successful project (October 5) and Art direction for board games (October 4). Likewise, there will be another talk that will focus on two interconnected universes within the sector: “Comics and animation: Professionals straddling two worlds” (October 5).
These news are added to the presentations and advice of some of the 153 projects that will be part of the catalog of this edition and the screenings of the 41 short films in competition at the 3D Wire Fest. Works, the latter, that will represent 20 different countries in America, Asia, Europe and Oceania.
A heterogeneous and harmonious range of appointments where there are also co-production meetings, a showroom or space for networking, thus forming a key event for both professionals and amateurs.
3D Wire has more than a decade of history and since its origins, the Segovian council has shown its support for this cultural reference, the mayor herself, Clara Luquero, stated that “In the city's stable programming, it is one of the milestones in promoting innovation and creativity in the city and in promoting the creative industry.” Likewise, José Ramón González García, general director of cultural policies of the Junta de Castilla y León, emphasized “not only is it something that is important because of its international projection but also because it marks some lines of economic development for the future of Castilla y León.”
At a national and international level, programs such as Media or institutions such as Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) through its Program for the Internationalization of Spanish Culture (PICE) in the Visitor modality endorse the good work of this market.
