Tenerife broke a record in 2019 with 151 filmings that generated around 20 million euros

The island councilor responsible for Tourism, José Gregorio Martín Plata, presents the annual report of the Tenerife Film Commission and highlights that the island premiered last year as a set for series on platforms such as Amazon, Netflix and HBO.

Pérez has set out a series of objectives for 2020 that include, among other aspects, "digital transformation, the development of the special effects sector, in addition to promoting sustainable productions on the island, through an icon that will identify those that have been respectful of the environment during the filming process." Likewise, work is being done on a seal that will identify “all those productions that are respectful of the environment, within the strategy set by the decalogue of sustainable productions that we have.”

Types of filming

The director of the Tenerife Film Commission, Ricardo Perez, has listed the different types of filming hosted during 2019: 61 photographic filming, 27 television programs, 26 advertising filming, 12 documentaries or 7 feature films, among others. By nationality, the Spanish productions stand out, 35 in total, 34 German, 29 British or 9 local.
