The EBU will analyze in the 5G Virtual Forum the change in audiovisual consumption that 5G will bring

From the European Broadcasting Union (EBU/EBU), Elena Puigrefagut, Senior Project Manager of Technology and Innovation at the EBU-EBU, will present the 5G Media Action Group (5G-MAG) initiative from Switzerland.

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU/EBU) will participate in the 5G Forum, the main 5G technology event in Spain, to provide its vision of how audiovisual consumption will change in the coming years, and especially after the coronavirus crisis.

Elena Puigrefagut, Senior Project Manager of Technology and Innovation at the EBU, will present the initiative from Switzerland 5G Media Action Group (5G-MAG) that have recently been launched by European public television.

The EBU is made up of 116 members, which through more than 2,000 television and radio channels, reach an audience of more than 1,000 million people in 56 countries daily. "Young people watch more and more television on the Internet. Television consumption on the Internet is growing very quickly. Audience behavior is changing. Viewers and listeners increasingly consume on-demand content online. And public television stations have to adapt to this," advances Puigrefagut.

However, Internet-based distribution has a number of challenges for public services broadcasting. In his presentation, Puigrefagut will analyze these challenges and the work carried out by public broadcasting services to ensure that a future transmission in 5G can be adapted to your requirements.

The 5G Forum 2020, which has Panorama Audiovisual as a media partner, is the main specific event on 5G held in Spain, and will celebrate its third edition in the coming years. May 6 and 7, virtually, with the help of large leading companies in 5G such as Samsung, Vodafone Business, Cisco, 5Genesis, Intracom Telecom, Huawei, Hispasat, Impulsa Visión RTVE, Nokia, Axión and the National 5G Observatory, an initiative promoted by Mobile World Capital, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and Red.es, sponsors of the event.
