Custom Consoles incorporates a screen developed in response to the coronavirus pandemic to its range of furniture for technical controls. The Operator Safety Screen reduces the risk of airborne infection or direct physical contact between personnel in a performance control without restricting their front or side vision of the video monitor screens.
The managing director of Custom Consoles, Neil Reed, states that "We designed the Operator Safety Screen following discussions with some of our largest customers. Most technical control rooms and editing suites are well air-conditioned, but COVID-19 has raised health and safety concerns to a significantly higher level. We quickly responded to the challenge with a space-saving screen that can be quickly and easily installed anywhere control room personnel work in close proximity. This screen is designed to fit our series of technical furniture. Module-R, but it fits all other desks in our product portfolio and those made by other furniture companies.”
The sales director, Gary Fuller, highlights that there are already many broadcasters and production companies that are using the new screen, such as Al Jazeera, Amazon, BBC Studio Works, IMG, QVC, STV and Timeline.
"This makes it one of the fastest-selling new products in the history of custom consoles. Each bulkhead comprises a strongly constructed birch plywood main frame with rigid, low-profile floor supports. A clear polycarbonate panel bonded to the top section of each frame gives operators a clear view of all equipment and colleagues to support their normal workflow. Handholds are integrated into each frame for easy relocation," says Fuller.
