Despite perceiving a slight reactivation and relative improvement of the expectations on the part of the businessmen of the ICT services sector, he activity volume fell -21.2% in year-on-year terms (between May 2020 and May 2019). This data once again marks the record for the worst record in the historical series, which together with the -20.5% drop in turnover per employee, forms a most demanding scenario for digital services companies.

This is reflected in the new delivery of the report ICT Monitor elaborated by VASS and the CEPREDE Economic Prediction Center, which reflects the impact of the last month of confinement last May and, therefore, offers a now complete perspective of the downward stretch of the first phase of the pandemic.

For the director of VASS Research and head of TIC Monitor, Antonio Rueda, "despite being a sector adapted to teleworking and oriented towards improving the productivity of its 'client sectors', there is no doubt that through the paralysis in many of them an induced effect has been generated that has attacked not only this specific sector, but the entire economic structure."

However, and as already mentioned in the previous installment, unlike other service sectors, computer consulting is being less affected in terms of employment. Thus, while the service activities sector destroys jobs at an average year-on-year rate of -4.7% (between the months of March, April and May), ICT services continue to create jobs at a rate of +1.8%.
