The third edition of the festival will pay special attention to animation and film photography professionals in Spain with a complete program of training activities.

Film Festival made by Women 2020

Of the November 4 to 15 the Third edition of the Women's Film Festival will bring together filmmakers from all over the world in an online event, on this occasion, with conferences, round tables and presentations in which international experts and directors will participate who will share their experience with the Madrid public, this year with the focus on photography and animation professionals in cinema.

There will be 3 round tables, 1 conference, 1 course and numerous dialogues and film presentations by its directors. All with a view to achieving a goal, making the work and the point of view of women in the five sections of the production chain de valor cinematográfico (creación y formación > producción y reproducción > promoción y marketing > distribución y comercialización > consumo y accesibilidad).

This year, most of the activities will be carried out virtually and will be broadcast online thanks to the support and technical means of the Community of Madrid, Espacio Fundación Telefónica, Goethe Institut Madrid, Casa de América and RosssCammm.

On Thursday, November 5, the program will begin with the first round table, focused on making professionals in the Spanish animation industry visible.

The activity will have Alicia Núñez Puerto, president of the Association of Women in the Animation Industry; Elysa Castro, member of the Art Directorate of Buñuel in the Labyrinth of the Turtles; Bella Ramírez, Production Director of Planeta 51; Maite Ruiz de Austri, screenwriter and director, winner of 4 Goya awards and Marisa Roman, producer of Klaus, winner of a BAFTA, 7 Annie Awards and nominated for an Oscar.

Thanks to the collaboration of Casa de América, on Friday, November 6, three Latin American directors will appear in the online window of the festival with Points of View. Dialogue with Lucia Garibaldi, Yvette Paz-Soldan y Sofia Quiros Ubeda, an activity in which they will tell what it was like to film the films they present at the festival.

Monday, November 9, will be dedicated to female film directors of photography with a round table and a conference that will give a broad vision of the profession both nationally and internationally.

Participating in the round table Raquel Fernández Núñez. Director of photography for film, advertising and documentaries, and winner of the award for best female filmmaker at the Women's Independent Film Festival in Los Angeles; Teresa Medina, president of AEC, the Spanish Association of Directors of Photography; Nuria Roldós, vice president of AEC and Rita Noriega, nominated and awarded for her work in feature films, shorts, TV series, documentaries and advertising spots.

Sophie WinqvistFor your part Sophie Winqvist, a renowned director of photography born in Sweden and known for her work in documentary film, fiction, short films and video clips, will give a conference in which she will describe her experience as an international director of photography and in her latest film, Aniara.

On Tuesday, November 10, Espacio Fundación Telefónica will coordinate a round table that will present cases of some of the film directors who participate in the festival with their films. In it they will be Lucia Garibaldi, director of Los Tiburones, from Uruguay; Yvette Paz- Soldán, director of the Bolivian The tune of the wind y Sonja Prosenc, Slovak director of History of Love, Chus Gutierrez, who has directed Rol & Rol, y Agnieszka Zwiefka director of the polish Scars.

New this year and thanks to the collaboration of the Goethe Institut Madrid, the first online course of the festival will take place on November 12, 13 and 14.

Structured in three sessions, Between us and German cinema It will investigate the work of German directors of narrative and experimental cinema, as well as actresses whose imprint on the work of other filmmakers has been significant and some collaborations between professional women from various cinematographic fields.

The course will be taught by Nuria Cubas, founder of the FILMADRID International Film Festival, who is part of the section committee of the Official Point of View Competition – International Documentary Film Festival of Navarra and stands out in her teaching work for her participation in the (R)evolutions course of LAV AudioVisual Laboratory of Creation and Contemporary Practices.
