The Cinema for Women Festival returns to Madrid with 20 venues and 69 feature films

Start the V Film Festival for Women Madrid, an event that will display, across 20 face-to-face venues, 69 feature films and 13 professional activities that will feature 46 female directors and invited experts.

This fifth edition from the Madrid Women's Film Festival multiply your windows since, thanks to the collaboration with the independent film platform of the movie, 68 of the feature films of the event will be available in homes throughout the national territory. During the dates of the festival, the public from all over Spain will be able to enjoy a varied selection of films screened throughout the five editions of the festival, fiction, documentary and animation, directed by Spanish and international authors. Among the films programmed in this V edition, films from different sections of the festival can be seen on the online platform: Nightsiren (Nightsiren) de Tereza Nvotová, de la Competición Internacional; travel somewhere of Helena de Llanos and The Volunteer by Nelly Reguera, from the Spanish Authors Competition; Instinct by Halina Reijn of Focus Netherlands; and Havana Divas, S. Louisa Wei of Parallel Sections / Chinese and Swedish Directors.

In addition, the festival once again has the collaboration of the local television channel 8madrid TV, which will broadcast in prime time during the Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays of the festival a cycle of 7 feature films, six national and one Portuguese, selected from its audiovisual collection. An ambitious edition

The present edition of Film Festival for Women Madrid host a attractive programming with some of the biggest names in the industry. Among these projections, there are works such as The Maternal by Pilar Palomero, Emily by Frances O'Connor, Sinjar de Anna Bofarull, Sis dies corrents de Neus Ballús, Chavalas de Carol Rodríguez Colás, Little pig de Carlota Pereda o five little wolves de Alauda Ruiz de Azúa.

En el programa de competición internacional se proyectarán 10 largometrajes internacionales no estrenados en España o en Madrid realizados entre 2021 y 2022 que competirán por el Premio a la Mejor Película 2022 del Festival Cine por Mujeres Madrid. La selección incluye a The kings of the world de Laura Mora, Maya Nilo (Laura) de Lovisa Sirén, Nightsiren (Nightsiren) de Tereza Navotová, Palm Trees and Power Lines de Jamie Dack, Estación Catorce de Diana Cardozo, Ønskebarn (Baby Pyramid) de Cecilie McNair, Klondike de Maryna Er Gorbach, Nezouh de Soudade Kaadan, Le Bleu du Caftan (El Caftán Azúl) de Maryam Touzani y Wir könnten genauso gut tot sein (We Might as Well be dead) de Natalia Sinelnikova.

Con respecto a las actividades profesionales, la organización del Festival Cine por Mujeres de Madrid ha creado un programa bajo el lema #visibilidadparalaigualdad que recogerá el objetivo global de destacar el talento de las mujeres en toda la cadena de producción de valor cultural: creación y formación, producción y reproducción, distribución y comercialización, promoción y marketing, y consumo y accesibilidad. En este programa, encontramos temáticas tan interesantes como Cine mudo dirigido por mujeres: Estados Unidos, América Latina, Europa y Asia (Cine Doré, Filmoteca Española, viernes 28 de octubre), Lesbianismo e Invisibilidad, un reto desde lo visual a lo real (Acción Triángulo, viernes 28 de octubre), el taller de guion cinematográfico con Diana Cardozo (Fundación Casa de México en España, miércoles y jueves 2 y 3 de noviembre) o Cine latinoamericano y (psico)análisis. Encuentro con el colectivo “Cartelera Transfeminista” (Acción Triángulo, 4 de noviembre).
