The virtual format of the 4K world summit, organized by Medina Media Events, which has Panorama Audiovisual as a media partner, has made it possible to bring together the best speakers worldwide from fields such as content, production, manufacturing or research.

As soon as the sixth edition, held last week, finished, Medina Media Events announces that next year the seventh edition of the 4K HDR Summit of the November 16 to 19, 2021.

In total they have been 410 participants, from 120 companies. The majority profiles have been CEOs, CIOs, CTOs, and directors of Innovation, Business, Product, Strategy, Marketing, as well as producers, filmmakers, engineers, consultants and researchers.

A total of 2,037 users have visited the 4K HDR Virtual platform. These users came from 44 countries: Australia, Austria, Andorra, Germany, Belgium, Bulgaria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Croatia, Finland, France, India, Indonesia, Iran, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Pakistan, Portugal, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States and Vietnam.

Approximately, half of the visitors have been Spanish (800), and these came from 15 different communities: Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, Basque Country, Castilla y León, Castilla La Mancha, Navarra, Canary Islands, Murcia, Balearic Islands, Valencia, Aragon, as well as Catalonia, Andalusia and Madrid, for the most part.

“The response we have had with the virtual format and the result of our own platform drive us to work right now on the seventh edition and, like every year, confirm the best speakers, sponsors, products and solutions on the agenda,” he says. Ricardo Medina, CEO of Medina Media, which since 2015 has organized the main global meeting on Ultra High Definition (UHD).

2021 will be an important year for the development of UHD worldwide, with the celebration of the Tokyo Olympic Games and the Euro Cup, in a unique socioeconomic context worldwide since television was invented in 1926.

The COVID-19 pandemic has meant that, for example, more televisions have been sold in the United States than ever before, as consumers opt for home entertainment and reprioritize their expenses due to confinements and changes in habits.

The virtual format has made it possible to bring together the best speakers worldwide from fields such as content, production, manufacturing or research in the virtual 4K HDR Summit.

"Their agendas often prevent them from traveling all of them to the same place at the same time. We all miss the 'face-to-face' networking that we had achieved in Malaga, because it is very important for business. But sharing knowledge, with each other, is the main objective of the 4K HDR Summit. And this year we have achieved it again," says Medina.

Marcos SantanaMarcos Santana, president of Telemundo Global Studios, from the Comcast NBC-Universal group, was this year's 'speaker of honor'.

The presidents of the UHD Alliance, Michael Zink; of the Ultra HD Forum, Thierry Fautier; y of the 8K Association, Chris Chinnock. The three held a debate together for the first time before the international UHD community about 8K, and have already committed to repeating the experience next year.

Among the 30 speakers who made up this year's agenda were representatives from NHK (Japan), OBS (Olympic Broadcasting Services), NASA (USA), Eurovision-EBU, Travel XP (India), The Explores (France), OMDIA (Great Britain), etc.

The sixth edition of the 4KHDR Summit offered a final section dedicated to the nascent UHD Spain association, in which the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, RTVE, Cellnex, Hispasat, Canon, Mediapro, the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) and Medina Media 4K took part, within the group of promoters of Ultra High Definition in Spain, which they invited all those companies and professionals based in Spain interested in 4K to join.

The international 4K week culminated on Friday, November 20 with the virtual awards ceremony and screening of the winning shorts of the Málaga 4K Fest 2020, organized by Medina Media Events, in collaboration with Festival de Málaga, to which 324 short films from 35 countries on 5 continents have been presented.

The short film Mateoren Ama (Mateo's mother), directed by Aitor Arregui and Jose Mari Goenaga, also directors of the Spanish film nominated for the Oscars The Infinite Trench, has been the great winner of this edition of the Málaga 4K Fest, having won the main prize of the festival, the Grupo ADM Award for best short film, and the Medina Media 4K Award for best director.
