EITB announces a “Basque Netflix” that will bring together all the production of Euskadi

Andoni Aldekoa, director general de EITB, ha anunciado la creación de una “gran plataforma digital” que englobará toda la producción audiovisual que se genere en Euskadi.

Basque and other languages

The new EITB digital platform will not exclusively offer content in Basque, although among its fundamental missions will be the dissemination of content in this language: "We consider that, in current audiovisual consumption, platforms are fundamental and an unstoppable reference. It is an area in which Basque barely has space today; and if Basque does not provide content of the same quality as the rest of the languages, and if these contents are not accessed with the same ease and usability as with the rest, it will be an irreparable loss for the future of our language," he points out. Likewise, he has considered it essential that it be offered by the “large suppliers of audiovisual content” of the market, since it points out that “the trend of television and cable content companies is platform integration”.

"We believe that the audiovisual and cultural world of Euskadi can be a reference in the world and that it deserves to be exhibited. EITB wants to be the driving force of all this Basque production," he underlines.

International focus

The general director of EITB has also focused on the importance of the international environment in the corporation's new strategy. In this sense, there have already been some first contacts with the Creative Europe Media to open the doors of EITB and the Basque audiovisual sector to collaboration with other European countries and other communication groups.

In this environment, The supporter It also highlights the importance of public service "to be a universal, open and free EITB that reaches all people, and with a wide and diverse offer, capable of offering all types of media and genres, with quality, veracity and that allows the consumer to see and listen to what they want, where, how and whenever they want."

Projects underway

In the same way, The supporter has reviewed the main projects that are already in development and have been promoted by the new EITB management: EITBLab, and new formats experimentation laboratory for the EITB group based at the Miramon Production center in San Sebastián; the ampliación y digitalización de la sede de EITB en Navarra, con una inversión de más de 1.100.000 euros; y el nuevo Plan de Transparencia, en base a tres ejes: transparencia respecto a la sociedad vasca, transparencia respecto al Consejo de Administración de EITB y transparencia respecto al conjunto de profesionales de EITB.

Asimismo, se ha referido a EITBPodkast que cuenta ya con 8000 usuarios/as; y las nuevas aplicaciones de información (EITB Albisteak) y contenido a la carta (EITB Nahieran), que suman ya más de 100 000 usuarios únicos.
