Javier Fracchia's studio in Buenos Aires has become the first mastering facility in Argentina to incorporate three-way coaxial monitors Genelec 8361A, flagship model of the 'The Ones' series.
Fracchia evaluated several alternatives before settling on Genelec. However, as he says, he ended up deciding on the 8361A after researching the technology of the series The Ones: “I come from a live sound background, so I know the advantages that coaxial systems bring to stage monitors, and all the positive comments about The Ones caught my attention. When I had the opportunity to listen to them at the show CAPER from Buenos Aires, I immediately wanted to hear more.”
Equaphon, a local Genelec distributor, gave him some 8351s to test in his studio: "Listening to the 8351s in my studio simply made me smile. The stereo image was incredible, and I didn't need to listen to anything else to make a decision. All the information I needed was there."
From 8351 to 8361

However, Fracchia He usually works with urban music, so he needed his monitors to reproduce the lowest frequencies at high levels to avoid the need to use a subwoofer. As an alternative, the Equaphon team suggested the 8361. Having heard the 8351, Fracchia knew that the technical specifications of the 8361 “They would help him get what he needed” and accepted the integration proposal, keeping the 8351 in his studio until the arrival of the 8361.
Once he started working with 8361, also began to recurrently use monitor management software GLM: "Controlling the volume is an essential part of my job. So I connect the microphone to the GLM and thus have real-time measurement of the SPL," explains Fracchia.
Time after implementing the Genelec 8361 In his daily workflow, Fracchia is happy with the acquisition: "The extra headroom, the crystal-clear stereo image and the wider listening area provide clear improvements to my mastering work. I can now hear 1 dB of difference at any frequency and can work at high levels without distortion."
