HelmetCam

Gravity Media has debuted its new Globecam specialist camera unit on the pitches of England and Wales this summer at The Hundred cricket tournament.

The unit Globecam of Gravity Media is known for creating innovative miniature digital streaming devices capable of delivering exciting angles and perspectives. This summer, Gravity Media's special Globecam cameras (HelmetCam y KeeperCam) have been used in the new cricket tournament series The Hundred.

The inaugural events of The Hundred series have taken place throughout July and August this year and feature the best players from around the world competing in a unique cricket tournament. The series involves eight men's and eight women's teams, is run by the England and Wales Cricket Board and has been broadcast in the United Kingdom by Sky Sports and the BBC.

The HelmetCam, which debuts in the UK with the production of The Hundred, offers a unique HD broadcast experience, allowing audiences at home to experience exactly what the batsman sees as he approaches the crease. It offers the excitement of a speeding ball and the trepidation of a hit or miss. The images captured by the device have also been useful as diagnostic tools for experts dissecting key moments of a match.

The device has a 1080i/50 Full HD resolution, HD-SDI output from the receiver, image stabilization and a total weight of only 230 grams. The deployment of the cameras follows Gravity Media's acquisition of the Globecam business in July this year from the Australian company Telstra Broadcast Services. Along with its DSNG (Digital Satellite) fleet, this acquisition will complement Gravity Media's specialist camera unit in the UK.

Greg Littrich, Director of Media Services for Gravity Media in Australia, comments: "We knew that Gravity Media's acquisition of the Globecam specialist camera business would allow us to enhance the live broadcasts we offer to clients and the deployment of the HelmetCam at The Hundred is a great example of this. It has been a great and exciting cricket tournament and we are looking forward to deploying these specialist cameras at many more live events."
