Zinkia acquires the Canarian animation studio Koyi Talent
The Spanish company Zinkia, creator of the series Pocoyo, has reached an agreement with the Canarian animation study Koyi talent to get 100% of the company.
Through this purchase, the producer incorporates three new properties into its brand catalog and a purchase option on a fourth and will have its own study located in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
From this study, in addition to carrying out the production of own content, it will also address production work for third companies, sponsored in the tax incentives existing in the Canary Islands.
Zinkia, founded in 2002, specializes in the production of audiovisual and interactive content aimed at family audiences, and distributed through different platforms and devices (television, vod, YouTube, apps ...).
With the purchase of Koyi, Zinkia incorporates the preschool series into its wallet Bumpy: The Bear Made in traditional animation and which is planned to produce 52 episodes of 7 ′. The beginning of the production has been planned for next spring, thanks to the agreement that is closing with an American company and the probable participation of RTVE, which selected it in the last call for co -production of series.
Another of the projects assumed is Ghost Bros, series aimed at an audience of 6 to 8 years and created by Yellow Kingdom (Chorch Edelstein) and Wedoo Studio (Emi Ordás). This title tells the hilarious stories of two orphans adopted by a dysfunctional family whose purpose is to make all its members happy because, of not achieving it, they will have to return to the place they escaped, the "beyond". Also, the integration of Koyi Talent in Zinkia adds the script of a feature film and a purchase option on the intellectual property of the Bugsted brand.
Additionally, Zinkia's plans for 2022 contemplate the start of the production of the fifth season of Pocoyo and new specials for YouTube and digital platforms. The owner of Pocoyo He is also working on a new title that will present next February at Kidscreen Summit, the reference event of the content industry aimed at children.
Alberto Delgado, CEO of Zinkia, emphasizes that “with the acquisition of Koyi Talent, Zinkia continues with its expansion and growth plan, consolidating its presence in the Canary Islands and expanding its production business area with the possibility of performing services in this area internationally. At the same time, it diversifies its assets incorporating new properties into its catalog, which will allow it to grow considerably in the coming years”.
