San Sebastián Financing TechCo-organized with CAA Media Finance, with the presence of directors from 30West, A24, Anonymous Content, Focus Features, MUBI, Neon, Netflix and Wild Bunch International, among others, the San Sebastian Festival will organize a Creative Investors Meeting on September 19 and 20.

Ten new feature film projects of majority Spanish production in the development phase will be presented at a new investment attraction event, which will bring together international investors and talent representatives with Spanish production companies.

Organized in collaboration with CAA Media Finance, one of the leading talent representation agencies in the international market, executives as relevant as Bobby Allen, vice president of content at MUBI; Karin Chien, partner and executive vice president of Louverture Films; Rose Garnett, head of film and Piers Wenger, head of TV, of A24 Europe; Kiska Higgs, president of production and acquisitions at Focus Features; David Flynn, WIIP Global Head of Drama; Trevor Groth, executive vice president of 30West; Phil Hunt, co-founder and CEO of Head Gear Films; Vincent Maraval, co-founder and co-director of Wild Bunch International; Teresa Moneo, international director of Netflix original films; Susan Newman Enjoyment, executive director of Eurimages; Dawn Olmstead, CEO de Anonymous Content; Danny Perkins, founder of Elysian Film Group; Tom Quinn, CEO of Neon; Vania Schlogel, Executive Partner of Atwater Capital; John Sloss, co-founder and director of Cinetic Media; Christine Vachon, co-founder and producer of Killer Films; Patrick Wachsberger, president of entertainment at Picture Perfect; Diana Williams, co-founder and CEO of Kinetic Energy Entertainment; Rob Williams, vice president of distribution and acquisitions at Participant Media, and production companies such as Carlo Cresto-Dina, Mike Goodridge y Gabrielle Tana, among others.

Roeg Sutherland, Benjamin Kramer and Sarah Schweitzman from CAA Media Finance will participate in the Meeting and will moderate some of the activities, as well as Wendy Mitchell, delegate and advisor of the San Sebastián Festival, who has collaborated in the selection of attendees.

The event, which will be open only to people with industry accreditation, will consist of conferences, presentations of case studies of internationally successful Spanish productions and round tables on current trends in the audiovisual sector with regard to financing and co-production. A private event will also be held with students from the main Spanish film schools in which they will have the opportunity to meet representatives of the international industry.

Ten new projects

Ten new feature film projects of majority Spanish production in the development phase will be presented at the meeting. Swel Noury ​​Cazorla (Azahar Baby, de Two Flavors Productions); Baltasar Kormákur (Baleazaleak / Whalemen, At the Ends of the Earth (Whalers, at the ends of the Earth, from Euskadi Movie AIE); Asier Altuna (Carmel, of Txintxua Films); Louis Danes (The Monster / Monsters, by Castelao Pictures); Pablo Hernándo Esquisabel (A Whale / A Whale, from Mr. and Mrs.) and Gerardo Herrero (Raqqa / Raqqa, from Tornasol Films) are the filmmakers at the helm of these fiction projects.

To these we must add those of animated feature films Evolution (The Thinklab Media), by Julio Soto Gúrpide; The secret of the Three Wise Men / The Secret of the Magi (Arcadia Motion Pictures), by Javier Dampierre and Nacho Sánchez, and Rock Bottom (Alba Sotorra, s.l.), by María Trenor. These last two will be second films while the fiction feature film Oh Nora (Ikiru Films), by actress and screenwriter Aina Clotet, will be her debut feature.

The previous works of most filmmakers have had a relevant international career: Asier Altuna has been selected in different sections of the San Sebastián Festival; Gerardo Herrero has participated as a director in the Berlin and San Sebastián festivals, among many others, and as a producer he won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 2009 with The secret of his eyes (Official Section, 2008); Baltasar Kormákur develops his career between Iceland and the United States and has competed twice in the Official Section of the San Sebastián Festival; and Swel Noury ​​has presented her two previous feature films in the Panorama section of the Berlin Festival, as well as María Trenor, who won the Teddy Bear at the Berlinale for best short film thanks to What will I wash it with?
