Woody Allen will open the San Sebastián Festival with 'Rifkin's Festival'
This will be the second time that Allen opens this competition that awarded him the Donostia Prize in 2004, dedicating a retrospective to his work, 'Meeting Woody Allen'.
He San Sebastian Festival will host the world premiere, out of competition, of Rifkin’s Festival, the new movie Woody Allen produced by The Mediapro Studio, Gravel Productions y Wildside which will open its next edition on September 18 at the Kursaal Auditorium.
This will be the second time that Allen opens this contest, which in 2004 awarded him the Donostia Award, dedicated a retrospective to his work, Conocer a Woody Allen, and since 1970 he has presented several of his films in the different sections of the Festival.
This romantic comedy was filmed last summer in San Sebastián and other towns in Gipuzkoa and tells the story of an American couple who attend the San Sebastián Festival and are captivated by the festival, the beauty and charm of the city and the fantasy of the world of cinema. She has an affair with a French film director and he falls in love with a Spanish woman living in the city.
The film directed by Allen features Elena Anaya, Louis Garrel, Gina Gershon, Sergi López, Wallace Shawn, Princess Bride, Marriage Story and Christoph Waltz in its cast.
This is the fourth collaboration between the group and the prestigious director and screenwriter after Mediapro produced Midnight in Paris, You will meet the man of your dreams y Vicky Cristina Barcelona, films with which he has achieved two Oscars among many other recognitions and awards.
