Fourteen short films will compete at the Nest Film Students meeting in San Sebastián
The international meeting of film students, which will take place within the framework of the San Sebastian Festival, will host master classes by Alexander Payne, Peter Strickland, Jaime Rosales, Albertina Carri and Virgil Vernier.
The 17th edition of Nest Film Students, he international meeting of film students which will be celebrated from September 24 to 28, within the framework of the 66th edition of the San Sebastian Festival, has selected, among the 305 works presented by 139 schools from 41 countries, fourteen short films from Germany, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Spain, United States, France, Israel, Portugal, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Russia and Switzerland.
These figures suppose that in one year there has been a 48% increase in the number of short films received and 26% in the schools that have participated.
The Meeting, organized by the San Sebastián Festival and Tabakalera -International Center for Contemporary Culture-, aims to publicize the works of students from film schools around the world, the next generation of filmmakers.
For five days it will host the visit of prominent professionals from the film industry who present their films in San Sebastián: the president of the Official Jury, the American filmmaker Alexander Payne, who will offer a masterclass on Monday the 24th in the morning; Peter Strickland, which competes in the Official Section, will chat with the selected filmmakers at Nest on Tuesday after the screening of In Fabric (3:00 p.m.); after viewing Sophia of Antipolis (Zabaltegi-Tabakalera), a colloquium will be held with Virgil Vernier on Wednesday the 26th (3:00 p.m.); Jaime Rosales He will also debate with the students about Petra (Perlak) on Thursday at 3:00 p.m.; and, finally, the Argentine filmmaker Albertina Carri, who competes in Zabaltegi-Tabakalera, will talk to the students after they attend the screening of The daughters of fire (11:00 am).
Vernier, author Mercury, will also serve as president of the jury for the 17th edition of Nest.

A jury made up of students, chaired by a professor and selected by Orona Fundazioa will award the Orona Prize, worth 5,000 euros.
In addition, a specific jury, made up of students from the participating schools and chaired by Vernier, will decide which director to award the Panavision Prize, which consists of the transfer of complete equipment of a RED Epic camera and standard Primo lenses for four weeks of filming, or a credit of 10,000 euros to rent any Panavision material.
