Avatar: The Sense of Water box office Spain world

Movie theaters have recovered the blockbuster Christmas at pre-pandemic levels with the notable performance of Avatar: the sense of water, a James Cameron film that has managed to exceed $400 million in revenue in its first weekend at the box office. In Spain, the figure has risen to 7.3 million euros.

1983 Spanish screens have hosted the first weekend of Avatar: The Sense of Water, first sequel of a saga dedicated to the universe presented in the first Avatar (2009). The film has managed to bring together 950,000 of the 1.2 million viewers who have visited state movie theaters this weekend. It is about the second best premiere since the pandemic began and of fourth best premiere in December historically in Spain.

These data have translated into a collection of 7.3 million euros, the 84.6% of the total homeland this weekend. Again, the 3D format has been key for the box office, since 53% of viewers opted for this modality.

Directed by James Cameron and produced by Cameron and Jon Landau, the production of Lightstorm Entertainment stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang and Kate Winslet and has a script by James Cameron, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar: The Sense of Water begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri and their children), the problems that haunt them, the efforts they make to stay safe, the battles they fight to stay alive and the tragedies they suffer.
