80 million euros: Spanish cinema collects twice as much in 2022 as the previous year

After a 2021 especially marked by the pandemic and the reactivation of movie theaters, Spanish cinema is returning to the right direction with the support of viewers.

The data for the always healthy last week of the year is still missing, but the data updated on December 25 by the Ministry of Culture and Sports now allow us to confirm that the collection has amounted to 80 million euros, doubling the 40 million euros and 6.7 million viewers of 2021.

The absolute winner of the contest is Father there is only one 3, the umpteenth installment of the room driven by Santiago Segura which was quite a gamble by presenting a Christmas context in the middle of July. Lead the classification with €15,604,729 and 2,706,439 million viewers, and it is not the only production of Bowfinger among the best rated of the year, since Full train 2, released last December 2, occupies the fifth annual position with 3,450,750 million euros and 560,789 spectators.

The top three is completed with Tadeo Jones 3. The emerald table, the great animation bet of the year that, after its premiere in August, added 11.771.615€ y 2.025.524 spectators; and The crooked lines of God of Oriol Paulo, book adaptation namesake of Torcuato Luca de Tena who has kept in suspense 907,416 spectators collecting 5,724,343€.

The rest of the qualification combines comedies as The fourth passenger (#4, €4,549,654, 655,633 spectators), I'm going to have a good time (#9, 2.096.725€, 360.169) o Father's life (#10, €2,058,519, 361,166); tapes with an important copyright tear, like The Beasts (#6, 3.090.452€, 484.969) o Alcarras (#7, €2,331,434, 391,096); the big ones proper names of Spanish cinema, like Alberto Rodriguez and his return with Model 77 (#8, €2,118,397, 387,215), or the master of horror cinema Paco Plaza con The Grandmother (#11, 1.818.352€, 287.214).
