Matías González Martín

After a decade as director of Regulatory Affairs and Institutional Relations of Vodafone Spain, Matías González assumes the General Secretariat of Telecommunications and Regulation of Audiovisual Communication Services

González Martín is a Telecommunications Engineer from the Higher Technical School of Telecommunications Engineers (ETSIT) of the Polytechnic University of Madrid. In 2021 he joined the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation as an advisor to the cabinet of the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Infrastructure. He has developed most of his professional career at Vodafone Spain, where for more than a decade he was director of Regulatory Affairs and Institutional Relations.

Among the tasks he carried out in the private sector, the technical-economic analysis of regulation and taxation stands out, as well as the analysis of technological evolutions in the sector and wholesale contracts between operators for the deployment of networks and services. Much of his work has had in common the dialogue with state bodies, among which the Secretary of State for Telecommunications stands out, for the implementation of various normative and regulatory projects.

During his professional career he has had a very active participation in the management of Public Administration tenders and numerous processes for the contracting and evaluation of suppliers. Likewise, he has been in charge of coordinating the implementation of products and projects of various kinds at Vodafone.

Among the latest projects managed by González Martín at the Secretary of State, where he has actively collaborated in all the department's activities, there are both day-to-day regulatory and policy initiatives and those related to the deployment of the Recovery Plan programs. .

Gonzalez Martin relieves Arturo Azcorra in office, to whom both the First Vice President and Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, and the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure, María González Veracruz, have thanked him for the services provided during his stay at the Ministry, which has been extended during the last two years.
