Creativity, remote and virtual production and cloud form the backbone of Sony's proposal for NAB 2023
Sony return to NAB 2023 with global presentations and updates to its catalog under the motto “connected creativity.”
The ecosystem of solutions, products, services and partners Networked Live, which combines hybrid processing and operations on premises and in the cloud with network connectivity, continues to structure the proposal of Sony for the broadcast and audiovisual production industry.
In NAB 2023, the catalog of the Japanese firm continues to grow with new features such as cameras HDC-5500V y HDC-3500V, 4K products including global shutter system 2/3″ 3CMOS. These solutions stand out for incorporating a native variable ND filter, as well as a sliding mechanism that allows it to be used with the new Sony viewfinders (HDVF-EL760/EL740). When used in conjunction with the camera control unit HDCU-5000, the new HDC-5500V and HDC-3500V can be upgraded to support a high frame rate (HFR) (4x 4K y 8x HD).
These cameras, which also feature an interchangeable side panel for third-party integration, numerous HDR settings, Live Tone control, efficient Live HDR/SDR workflows and a lens compensation function, are scheduled to be available this fall.
Sony also premieres at NAB the CNA-2, a camera control network adapter. With a launch window set for autumn, this tool can expand Sony camera systems and enable remote and distributed live production, as well as camera monitoring and configuration. Thanks to a secure web API, users can take advantage of camera settings.
Processing and scalability: NXL-ME80, Virtuoso RE…
Another Sony key for NAB 2023 It is your platform live production based on newly developed software, which can be deployed in various environments such as virtual private cloud, data centers and COTS servers, and combined with on-premises solutions such as the stackable mixer MLS-X1 and third-party live production systems to enable flexible and hybrid production. This proposal is completed with the new solution NXL-ME80, which enables the transport of high-quality video over low-bandwidth networks, with ultra-low latency processing time.
In this area, solutions of Nevion, a company recently acquired by Sony. Beyond update VideoIPath, which is now integrated with AWS Media Services, the company has released the Virtuoso RE, a software-defined multimedia node capable of performing real-time transport, processing and monitoring functions on the converged IP LAN/WAN network.
Cloud solutions at NAB 2023
When it comes to meeting the main demands of the broadcast industry, Sony has allocated a significant arsenal of resources to value your Creators’ Cloud, a cloud-based platform that seeks to provide secure access to effective services and applications to maximize your production workflows.
The system, exhibited at NAB 2023, is made up of solutions such as C3 Portal, a cloud gateway service enabling seamless content delivery that receives new integration with Marquis and Avid, as well as support for Teradek; Ci Media Cloud, a media management and collaboration service for accessing and collaborating on files in production and finished media from virtually anywhere that comes with updated workflows and integrations with Atomos and Pomfort; M2 Live, scalable cloud-based tools that enable the creation of live event streams, social and web content; A2 Production, AI-based workflow automation process that provides data analysis, subtitling, clip creation, and content enrichment, or NavigatorX, which manages and orchestrates assets, data, workflows and devices.
Innovation: virtual production, spatial reality…
The virtual production It is another trend that Sony follows closely. To meet this growing demand, the company has brought to NAB 2023 a new tool set that addresses the most common challenges of virtual production, such as color matching, moiré, and visual effects enhancement. These improvements are reflected in tools such as Camera and Display Plugin, a software plugin for Unreal Engine that allows productions to identify and resolve the most common problems.
Supporting ST2110 IP, the BVM-HX3110 will complement Sony's Networked Live ecosystem in November 2023.
