TVU Networks achieves 5G coverage in a stadium with 75,000 fans

Sportcast, subsidiary of the DFL (German Football League), Viaplay y TVU Networks have carried out a new proof of concept in which they have pushed the possibilities of 5G to the limit in a highly demanding environment: the German Super Cup, held at the Allianz with the presence of 75,000 spectators.

The team of Viaplay was in charge of daring to carry out this coverage supported by 5G networks provided by Deutsche Telecom. The backpack, with 5G capabilities, was able to travel around the stadium, from the locker rooms to the field of play, in this highly demanding environment.

This coverage, unimaginable knowing the usual operation of 5G networks, was possible thanks to the combination of the use of “priority 5G networks” and the algorithm TV ISX from TVU Networks, which was “optimized for maximum performance.” According to TVU, the prioritized 5G SIM cards inside the backpack “guaranteed the highest level” of resilience during the broadcast to offer the highlights of the match.

This test, described as “historical” by TVU, “sets a new benchmark for the sector by showing the enormous potential and versatility of 5G networks to reshape the way we watch live sports,” the company itself states.
