TVE implements TVU Networks solutions to improve coverage of the 2019 Dakar Rally

The high quality and reliability of TVU Nano Router and TVU Anywhere has allowed Spanish Television to broadcast video captured by smartphone live and in full screen in its coverage of the 2019 Dakar Rally.

Spanish Television has deployed the solutions TVU Nano Router y TVU Anywhere of TVU Networks to provide SDI video over wireless networks from the remote and difficult conditions of the Dakar Rally in Latin America live to the RTVE studio in Barcelona.

The videos of streaming IP, which were issued live on La 1 and Teledeporte, were captured from smartphones, transmitted through local mobile networks and delivered in HD-SDI format to the RTVE studio. This was achieved thanks to the ability of the TVU Anywhere app to add mobile data from the smartphone and the compact TVU Nano Router, used as an additional access point enabled by three SIMs.

From the public Corporation they highlight that "capturing the video of the incredibly hostile environment of the Latin American deserts where the Dakar Rally takes place is a great achievement. However, the combination of the TVU Anywhere mobile application and the TVU Nano Router provided high-quality video coverage of the rally. This year the reliability, quality and low latency of the TVU solution allowed us to go full screen and live with HD SDI output from a smartphone," said RTVE.

Nano Router is designed to be the smallest possible hardware solution for contributing high quality video over WiFi, Ethernet and cellular networks. For its part, TVU Anywhere is a powerful application for capturing and transmitting live video from anywhere, offering image quality normally reserved for the most expensive professional video equipment. TVU Anywhere also features remote pan and zoom that allows a studio operator to control the camera remotely without user intervention in the field.
