Telefónica has carried out the installation of a dedicated 5G network that includes 5G coverage in both the 3.5 GHz band as in millimeter frequencies, ensuring bandwidth levels of several gigabits per second and ultra-low latencies, essential features to be able to fluidly retransmit multiple ultra-high definition video streams and perform robotic camera control and real-time video analysis.

Telefónica has also deployed an Edge Computing center in A Coruña, to host the solution TV from the Galician companyCinfo broadcast and automatic TV making, which thanks to its artificial intelligence algorithms is capable of carrying out game analysis in real time, labeling the plays, and directing and switching the cameras to generate a realized signal suitable for live TV. All this from the low latency cloud provided by Edge Computing and the 5G network. Cinfo is also responsible for additional use cases aimed at increasing spectator participation in the stadium, such as KissCam and the augmented reality heat maps.

For network deployment, technology has been used. Ericsson, incluyendo una de las primeras unidades de radio milimétricas del mundo en banda europea de 26 GHz, así como radio de 3.5 GHz y núcleos de red 5G tanto en tecnologías NSA (Non Stand Alone) como SA (Stand Alone), la red 5G con las características más avanzadas.

Additionally, Vodafone ha colaborado para poder utilizar puntualmente el espectro de ambas operadoras de forma conjunta en la banda de 3.5 GHz, en una serie de tests encaminados a averiguar el máximo potencial posible en esta banda central de frecuencias, como paso previo a la utilización de milimétricas.

Esta combinación de cobertura 5G de Telefónica con Ericsson, junto con la solución Tiivii de la empresa Cinfo, viene a demostrar entre otras muchas cosas las posibilidades de realizar la retransmisión de un evento sin tener que desplazar una unidad móvil de TV al lugar en el que se produce, lo cual traerá como consecuencia la democratización del directo y la realización profesional de todo tipo de eventos con unos costes mucho más reducidos, posibilitando directos de calidad para eventos regionales y locales, algo que hasta ahora no resultaba rentable.
