Mediaset España begins filming 'Romi', a procedural series

Tangerine produce for Mediaset 'Romi', a procedural police series that is already being filmed entirely in natural locations in Bilbao.

Romi tells the story of the eponymous character played by Maria Cerezuela, Goya for best new actress in 2022 for Maixabel. This detective has a hearing impairment has led him to enhance his senses of touch and smell, and he has learned to read lips without any difficulty, skills that help him solve mysteries as a detective.

Romi, Tangerine production for Mediaset, is developed from the project selected in the first edition of the program Showrunner: Fiction Classroom, created by the ESCAC (Higher School of Cinema and Audiovisuals of Catalonia) y Mediaset Spain to train and turn young creative talents into future showrunners of national fiction.

This is the synopsis of Romi broadcast by Mediaset España: “Romi addresses the investigations of a young private detective with post-locutionary hearing impairment with a cochlear implant who has great ability to solve the cases that come her way and also has a master's degree in microgestures. At times, her talent can be overwhelming, and at the same time, she is a girl with the problems typical of a young woman her age. His tendency to border on legality to solve cases and achieve his goals keeps his mother, Alaia (Natalia Millán, The Ministry of Time), who works as an inspector at the Ertzaintza. The worlds of mother and daughter intersect on numerous occasions and their clashes are constant, until a case unites their professional interests and makes them re-investigate the incident in which Bixente, Romi's father and Alaia's husband, died twenty years ago in an explosion in which the young woman lost her hearing. During the course of the investigations, mother and daughter will discover that there were many things about Bixente that they did not know and that will lead them to question who he really was and whether or not his death was accidental, as they had always believed.
