LiveU - BT Media - BT Tower - LRT

LiveU has integrated its LRT protocol into the content and distribution network BT Media, which will offer broadcasters a new way to contain their content and bring it to the SDI world.

BT Media and Broadcast transports up 24,000 daily hours of content through your International Media Center located in the BT Tower from London. His FacilityLine works in the domain SDI without compression (from SD a 4K) and functions as the backbone of the UK broadcasting services, in addition to connecting broadcasters and the global production community.

Recently, BT has installed the LiveU receiving and decoding technology to enable new direct receive and transmit capabilities. This update will enable multiple use cases: from the ability for LiveU users to quickly and easily reach users who currently they don't use their technology, up to the ability to provide additional resistance along with traditional fixed links that use LiveU. Content recipients, wherever they are in the world, can benefit from a cost-effective, ad hoc service and continue to access the global hub for content in English.

In the same way, BT Media and Broadcast becomes capable of providing a simple link to live content, SDI or LRT, to smaller broadcasters/channels that do not have a main control room or live gallery, but want live content to increase viewer engagement. In addition, BT Media and Broadcast will have the ability to send and receive live content through LiveU Matrix, the company's next-generation cloud IP content sharing platform.

Matthew Stringer, LiveU's UK sales director, sees this deal as “a milestone"in the "evolution of LiveU's global reach and is great news for the global broadcast community. We believe that the ability to appear, connect and capture content seamlessly is the future, and with the reach that BT Media and Broadcast has, working together to deliver this capability has huge commercial benefits," he commented.

On the other hand, Crow House, responsible for Portfolio and GTM of BT Media and Broadcast, a company that has also added field units to its portfolio LU800 multi-camera, notes: "This collaboration opens up an exciting range of possibilities for sharing content from sports, news and many other verticals. For ad hoc events, LiveU customers can easily send their content to BT Tower for secure and reliable sharing. Extremely reliable feeds are also available for remote production anywhere in the world."
