New York Islanders use TVU platform to increase fan engagement at their stadium
Using a QR code and geofencing, the production team of the New York Islanders has been able to create with the help of TVU Networks a new stadium experience called ISLES+, currently used by one in five fans present at the UBS Arena.
This project of los New York Islanders It began during COVID, when the NHL team was looking for new ways to engage fans through warm-up camera footage. However, they faced a crucial problem: they could not get fans to download the dedicated application on their phone. Now the solution ISLES+ has allowed a simpler approach, which has meant that, in 2024, almost 20% of the fans present in the stadium will use the platform. To make this experience possible, TVU Networks equipped the New York Islanders with his remote sports production ecosystem, hosted in the cloud Amazon Web Services (AWS). The solution, capable of managing the four cameras available in production, will be able to continue expanding capacities in the future if necessary.
One of the key features revolves around the goal sequence. Since fans in the stadium generally won't want to immediately look at their phones after a goal, a controlled delay. This means that when you're done celebrating, the replay will be ready to watch again. There are more new features integrated into this experience: a live chat for fans to talk about everything related to the Islanders, statistics detailed match details, arcade style hockey games, a direct link to comprar tickets and including the possibility to request a song from the DJ.
The TVU platform also includes versatility options from the production side, such as access geofencing inside the stadium, the time synchronization, and a way to close instantly all the feeds in case a situation arises where the production has to stop broadcasting immediately.
