Sony Burano version 1.1 2

Movie Camera Versions 1.1 and 2.0 Sony Burano will bring important, widely-demanded improvements in 2024 and 2025 that respond to the needs of the live production industry and the film community.

Scheduled for release at end of June 2024, the version 1.1 of Burano includes new features for live event production and incorporates the long-awaited visualization of de-squeeze 1,5x for anamorphic lenses. Version 1.1 will also add the S700 Protocol over Ethernet that allows remote control of a Burano using a RCP (remote control panel) to manage exposure, white balance or color adjustments, as well as specific colors in Multi Matrix contexts.

Other improvements in version 1.1 of the Sony camera are compatibility with version 2.0.0 of the application Monitor & Control de Sony, which offers in-demand features such as multi-camera monitoring for iPadOS; he intuitive focus control, and the control of frequently used functions, similar operation to Sony's CineAlta cameras, using a mobile device, such as frame rate, ND filter, sensitivity, gaze, shutter speed and white balance.

9 months later, approximately in March 2025, the Burano version 2.0, which will include a new cut 3.8K Full Frame that takes advantage of almost the entire sensor and can record up to 120 fps. This new recording mode allows filmmakers to prioritize faster sensor performance based on the needs of their application. Other new recording formats include the addition of 24.00 fps to the X-OCN 16:9 picture modes, Full Frame 3.8K 16:9 up to 120 fps, mode Super 35 4.3K 4:3 (for anamorphic) up to 60 fps and a mode Super 35 1.9K 16:9 up to 240 fps.

Version 2.0 will also add a setting 1.8x de-squeeze; additional modes of high frame rate (S and Q), including 66, 72, 75, 88, 90, 96 and 110 fps; improvements in the monitoring, including standardized SDI video output for monitoring via X-OCN and XAVC; a improved on-screen display which places camera status information outside the image; View Finder Gamma Display Assist while using S-Log3 for monitoring; tools additional exposure (high/low key) derived from the flagship Venice camera system; an expansion of white balance memory presets from 3 to 8; Active/High Image Stabilization in Full-Frame 6K and Super 35 1.9K 16:9 picture modes; compensation metadata of breathing, and image stabilization in X-OCN.
